NHL Draft Lottery odds set, drawing is April 9


The 2019 NHL Draft Lottery, which will be held Tuesday, April 9, in Toronto, will consist of three drawings: the 1st Lottery Draw will determine the club selecting first overall, the 2nd Lottery Draw will determine the club selecting second overall and the 3rd Lottery Draw will determine the club selecting third overall.
The results of the Draft Lottery will be revealed live by national rightsholders NBCSN, Sportsnet and TVA Sports during a one-hour show beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
The 15 clubs that did not qualify for the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, or the clubs that have acquired the first-round picks of those non-playoff clubs, will participate in the 2019 NHL Draft Lottery.
The allocation of odds for the 1st Lottery Draw of the 2019 NHL Draft Lottery is as follows:
Lottery odds (Fewest Points to Most)
Colorado Avalanche (from OTT) 18.5%
Los Angeles Kings 13.5%

Jeez, I got the Ducks #1 5 out of 7 times I did it. And the Kings didn't get higher than #4.

I ran the lottery 100 times twice. Once to see where the Kings ended up each time and another to see who got 1st overall each time.

With the Kings test they picked
1st- 14 times
2nd- 16 times
3rd- 9 times
4th -34 times
5th- 27 times.

With the 1st overall:
Avs- 21 times
Kings 9 times
Devils 15 times
Red Wings 9 times
Sabres 6
Rangers 9 times
Oilers twice (thank god)
Ducks 6 times
Canucks 12 times
Flyers twice
Wild 3 times
Hawks twice
Panthers once
Yotes twice
Habs once

With my first test the Kings actually did very favorably getting into the top 2 than their odds. 2nd testing was much less favorable. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say tomorrow will probably one of the most important days in recent memory. Probably a decision will be made about McClellan whether its with us or Buffalo and obviously picking between Hughes/Kakko and then the drop off. I'm extremely nervous for tomorrow.

Someone remind me who has won the 1st overall besides Buffalo last year with the worst record. I'm willing to bet the top three worst teams won't get the 1st overall this time around.

People just love to dwell on the negative with regards to the lottery. If the Kings finished with the worst record, they have no chance. If they finish 2nd, they will draft 5th, if they finished 5th, they will draft 8th. It's like there is no possible way that they will draft better or even stay where they are because of no real reason other that it feels good to just be an Eeyore about it.

I actually think that we will either win it or stay at #2 for some reason. It's just a feel.

Worst three only have a 43.5% chance combined for the top pick, so it's more likely that somebody else gets #1.

Toronto won #1 in 2016 as the worst team with a 20% chance. 2008-2010, the worst team won the pick outright (back when the worst team had a 25% chance).

But much like roulette, past results have no bearing on this drawing no matter how much you think something is due to happen.
