I’m walking back off the ledge. Looking back at previous drafts, Matthew Tkachuk 6th overall, Willy Nylander 8th overall, Rantanen 10th overall, Kyle Connor 17th overall, Werenski 8th overall, Tage Thompson 26th overall, Pastrnak 25th overall, Makar 4th overall, Brady Tkachuk 4th overall, Quinn Hughes 7th overall, etc…

Let’s hope the scouting department can earn their paychecks.
Trying to find a silver lining and remain hopeful. Ray Bourque was a #8 pick.

I'm sure he is but the majority of hockey fans only care about McKenzie's final list, quote frankly as do I. I don't dig into to the draft enough to look at or care about any other lists.

We've had this debate before about what you and I think of the Bruins needs at the center ice position so no point in re-opening that debate.
Why would you only care about McKenzie? It’s not like his hit rate is any higher than others.

Perhaps Trader Donny makes an appearance. It’s doubtful that anyone picked at 7 will play next year so I can see a trade at that spot.
Imagine being a team in the mid teens, what would you give up for 7th overall?
Or would you get more from a team picking in the 20’s.
Lots of options.

McQueen is the one player I won't be ok with at #7. I'm fine with O'Brien, Martin, Eklund, heck even Mrka, but McQueen just has such massive complete bust potential
Im not saying i want mcqueen. He just seems like the type of guy theyve looked to take most drafts. Big, under valued due to injury, super high upside.

Beecher and frederic and senyshyn werent hurt in their draft year but sweeney mentioned in all 3 cases they were better than their stats because of how their amateur teams utilized them.

Beecher and frederic on deep usntdp teams and Senyshyn on a deep soo team had them all playing third line minutes. All 3 were big fast and skilled. Mcqueen is the most big bad bruin type at forward in this draft. He could be like ryan getzlaf or quinton byfield. Or he could be like logan brown or kirby dach. Massive risk/reward.

I think it just has to be O'Brien assuming the board falls the way it's expected too..

The Bruins can not afford to miss on this pick. McQueen could be a great player or not even playing hockey in 5 years. It's way too risky for a guy in Don's position without a contract.

I will again say that this hard line thing where O’Brien isn’t in the top six players is shortsighted.

Not surprised getting the worst result, it’s the way things have been going all season. Eklund would be my pick unless obviously someone else goes off the board for theirs and someone like Martone or Frondell drops that far. I don’t see it, so Eklund with his compete level and motor has the ability to be Marchand without the mouth.

It was absolutely insane. All we needed was the last ball to be 7 or 14 for us to win. Literally any number except 3 to not fall to 7th overall and it was 3.... jeez
Well said. I taped it and started watching 15 minutes late so I froze it and was doing odds and like you said I figured we got a real good chance at 2 and 93 % chance of ending 6

Bonkers

But maybe they get O’Brien or Eklund and they are stars - or one of the others gets pushed back

Could be decent but I’m traumatized by Swedes in Boston. Haven’t had a good hit since PJ Axelsson. Lysell 2.0 is my fear with that pick.
How can you think he will bust when he might be an even better prospect than his brother who was 2nd on the Sharks in points last year. He had the same ppg as William Nylander at the same age.

Eklund is a high end prospect. I don't think he is going to completely outshine his draft position but in five years from now when we do a redraft he's going to be somewhere in the 5-10 range IMO whereas everyone is hoping that O'Brien is the next Wyatt Johnston who is probably #1 in a redraft now. Thats when a pick is more likely to bust.

Even though he isn't the biggest, he is also one of the best forecheckers in the class. He has a motor that combined with a high level of skill, creates a very interesting prospect.

Mcqueen will make a solid Bruins so much potential so many skills for his size, very rare, a kind of Tage T., but more competitive and more physical, no worry with the back it is common with young athletes of size especially...and what a name! A super star already!

I like O'Brien, can skate and snipe. Good size as well.

Leafs winning and now I read this! 😡

I hope the bruins find top scholar, 6 ‘7, skating needs improvement, projected 5th rounder, well mannered, effective interview skills at 7th.
