Right...I would want that PP time going to Chytil. I dont see your point here.So does Chytil.. but if he doesn't play the PP neither will Danault

After getting a nice nights sleep here’s how I see yesterday:
the rangers did not get the greatest return for buch, however this opens up space for kakko, laf and kravtsov to her more ice time. This was always the plan. I loved buch but truthfully for us to become a cup contender it’s the three forwards I mentioned above that are going to have to ply a huge roll. The buch trade is what it is
the Othman pick was bpa for the rangers and the other center prospects all have question marks. By the time any of those centers are ready the roster makeup would be completely different. None of those guys were going to jump in next season and play important minutes. I can get behind our pick

ZibanejadIt's not just last season, its been a lack of drafting centers higher going back to the year they took Kravtsov. Sure they lucked into 2 lotteries but still, no centers then, and no center again this year. Whats the long term plan here down the center of the ice?
Player value is based on Demand. Points, position matter to nobody but teams interested. The value everyone here places on the Ranger players is purely based on emotion.
Example Risto trade.
Buch and Strome don't have high value. If they did, they certainly would've been moved for it. Top 6 Wingers and a Meh C are a dime a dozen. Nothing special about either.
I very much like the Top 6 oozing with skill, the 3rd and 4th lines getting bigger and harder to play against.
Rangers had the worst bottom 6 in the league last year. It was pathetic and over played. Now let's see what Gallant does with this Roster and you can all cry again after this season if it doesn't improve. Have faith.
I don’t disagree that center should have been a priority in the past but what’s behind us can’t be changed. I understand center is important but it doesn’t define what could be a winner or notIt's not just last season, its been a lack of drafting centers higher going back to the year they took Kravtsov. I dont believe there is an arbitrary total points cutoff requirement for 2Cs. If he is productive in the sense that he puts up points at a 2C pace while playing exclusively at ES and PK, I would consider him far more valuable than Ryan Strome who puts up more total points but sucks at everything else. He's not going to put up the neccessary points for a 2C if he's not going to get that time here either would he?

Arizona got 9th overall for Garland (and OEL's shit contract) are we sure wingers dont have much value?
I love buch but garland is a hell of a player and oel’s contract may be shit but he’s a first pair defensemenArizona got 9th overall for Garland (and OEL's shit contract) are we sure wingers dont have much value?

Over the past 3 seasons, among all centers:
Phillip Danault ranks 46th among all centers in the NHL in points. Ryan Strome ranks 36th. Dylan Larkin ranks 33rd. Bo Horvat ranks 31st.
Phillip Danault ranks 25th in 5v5 points. Strome ranks 40th. Larkin ranks 28th. Bo Horvat ranks 34th.
Phillip Danault is 54.5% on faceoffs. Strome is 46.3%. Larkin is 52.7%. Horvat is 54.6%.
Phillip Danault ranks in 112th in PP TOI. Strome ranks 39th. Larkin ranks 33rd. Horvat ranks 4th!!
Over the past 3 years, Strome has put up 19 more points, Larkin has put 25 more points and Horvat has put up a total of 29 more points than Danault. That’s TOTAL production, not 5v5. Danault has out scored ALL of them at 5v5. Danault ranks 112th in PP time during this stretch. This past season Danault was 151st in PP time among centers.
Over that same 3 season stretch Danault has the 4th most PK minutes in the NHL for centers. Strome is 60th. Larkin is 93rd. Horvat is 130th.

Maybe Vancouver values OEL as a top 4 dman. They shouldnt, but that might be the value his name carries. He is pretty bad though.I love buch but garland is a hell of a player and oel’s contract may be shit but he’s a first pair defensemen
If Buch had value he would've gotten it. If anyone thinks there were substantially better options or even a Demand for Buch and Drury didn't do his due diligence your out to lunch.
It looks like a cap thing, perhaps a big fish is en route. Wingers are stocked to the brim here. It is what it is.
To give more minutes to the young guysThe point is though they didn't HAVE to trade him right now. If come the TDL and a team is in dire need of a top 6 winger (injuries, player underperforming etc), he's probably worth more, he's AT LEAST worth the same next trade deadline. What was the rush to move him now for such a mediocre return?
and yes it is what it is
Prospects I want the Rangers to draft that are still available:
Logan Stankhiven
Aatu Raty
Ville Koivunen
Autonomy Marino
Jayden Grubbe
Xavier Cormier
Miguel Tourigny
Good Hunting Rangers!
To give more minutes to the young guys
Some people seriously overrate Danault. Strome is better.
