most people said they were fine trading boqvist for seth...its the extra money on aav and picks that set people off on the deal

But you said we cant draft defense...

So we just traded away one of them for a legit #1. Seems like CBJ just did us a favor with Boqvist.

The other picks are just shiny toys that nobody knows what will be in 3 years time.

The contract should be held different than the trade itself. You can't hate the trade because of the contract.

The contract is high, not a fan of it either.

That makes no sense.

Boqvist is a kid. And the Hawks need to have a legit #1 as those opportunities don't come around often. They moved him now for a guy that can play that role today and not in 3 years. That has no barring on his development at all. You gonna piss off a lot of Boqvist fans.

Also disagree on the other part. Beaudin and Mitchell are coming along just fine. Hawks haven't drafted many 1st round dmen last 10 plus years...the 3 we just did including Mitchell all have made the show and will be here for a while.

Could also see him unwilling to give Suter pay raise and trading his rights and then citing that we have bust Borgstrom now who Stanley has gifted a top 9 spot on roster

Is Hagel arbitration eligible? Could Stan move him to prevent him from going to arbitration?

Seider was still a high first round talent on any list. This is a lot closer to Boston taking Zach Senshynn at #15 when he was a 3rd rounder on any list. Worked out great for them I imagine though since the scouts and the gm making the pick know more every time. You dont take a guy projected in the 80s in the first round.

But you don't actually base draft slot status on scouting sites, it's based on what and where teams were or would and did draft guys. The actual value is where teams were actually going to take guys. That's not a 1 to 1 with draft sites.

It's like that last year with Reichel, teams like was it New York or Jersey were reported after to have him on their board to take just 2-4 picks later. With multiple teams putting someone value there, that's what his value actually is, not the 2nd round status a few draft sites rated or expected his value to be. Maybe I'm crazy but it seems like a sensible concept

correct, as much as I don't like the trade, signing/GAMBLE this is an absolute message that they believe right or wrong that what they have up front and coming up in the next couple years , also believe the existing D minus Z perhaps (although imagine our D with Z if he makes some improvement and is more consistent) and Lankinen and an acquisition at some point have what it takes to potentially if the all the STARS align be a contender before Kane and they hope Toews are caput/gone,

who the heck knows, maybe Z is encouraged with Seth trade and knowing Toews and Dach are back would take a discount
