Cannot believe Lou backed our team so far into a corner that he couldn't even buyout Bailey himself...And had to give up a good asset for another team to do so.

It's not about that one pick , it's the total of missed opportunities. You need darts in the hope that one of them will hit the bullseye . It's constantly mentioned the draft is a crap shoot . But necessary and the more picks you collect over time the better your chances of finding those studs that win you championships. Constantly throwing picks at teams to take your bad contracts will catch up to you.

Man do you not get it.
The pick matters (no matter how much you want to say it doesn't), but the bigger picture is that you have a very flawed roster being held afloat by an elite goalie that struggles to even make the playoffs...And its GM has boxed them into a corner cap and asset-wise so they have no moves to make to become a Cup contender in at least the short-term with this group.
But keep poking fun at posts on here while your favorite team will continue to be average at best for the foreseeable future.

I agree it’s not ideal, but it’s a 2026 pick ffs. We have no idea what will happen from now until then. For all we know we might be moving vets at that point and have three 2nds in that draft. It’s ridiculous to worry about that now. This deal helps the team today and everyone should be happy it wasn’t more painful.

It does suck. But in order for this team to have any progress it needed to happen. At least Bailey will be a FA now.
I like the Nelson pick. Big center who isn't MDC or Griffin Reinhart slow. Only 17 so lots of potential there.

With Bailey gone, Lou can now re-sign Engvall, who'll likely get upside of 3.5 MM per.
In essence, Engvall is picked up for a 2nd and a 3rd.
