I do wonder if there’s just a complete lack of info on our pick out there and it’s leading to some of the most rudimentary speculation imaginable. Like, people think it’s gonna be Carlsson because the Ducks love their Swedes, or it’s gonna be Michkov because that might be something Steve Yzerman would do.

I think that's a huge part of it. I also think a lot of the rumors could be coming from other teams trying to scratch out info.

Fantilli was just interviewed on ESPN and in the background there was a guy holding up a Ducks Fantilli jersey. That man may be very disappointed in an hour.

Looking at final highlights of all the options before the draft...

I still don't see a massive gap between Leo Carlsson and Will Smith personally...neck and neck for me

I want Fantilli, Carlsson or Michkov in that order. I've watched a lot of Michigan this year, Fantilli is Mike Modano 2.0 and IMO fits this roster best.

Michkov was 24-1 to be the second overall pick a few days ago.

He is now 4-1.

I was about to post the same. Saw him at 3-1 at one point (+300). Now he's back to +650 (but is as high as +1500 to go 3rd). Carlsson just went from +500 to +225 during the last 30 mins or so. Fantilli went from -625 to -270, then back to -625 and is now -333.

The favorite to go 3rd is now Will Smith at -111!! Carlsson is right behind him at +125.

Lots of late movement, but I was most baffled by people thinking Michkov could go specifically 2nd, since his odds at other spots are still pretty high. That must have been quite a bit of money coming in on him.

Now I understand that there’s no conspiracy (wink), but could this draft have broken any better for the league? Curveballs are certainly possible, but the generational talent goes to Chicago, your smaller markets get the rest of the defined big 4, and we get back to Montreal JUST IN TIME for the Michkov saga

Whoever we draft, if Verbeek doesn't plan on upgrading this roster.... it may be better for the player to develop in the league they are in or in the AHL. Our roster especially defensively is so bad, don't want to develop a prospect of this caliber chasing the puck around the entire game. Although it wouldn't surprise me to see them on the NHL roster.

I hope Verbeek adds people to help our young players develop... and by that I mean players that can get the puck back for our offensive players. Chicago added Taylor Hall to help Bedard, hope we at least add some useful pieces.
