Was really hoping Merkley would fall to us, I think he may be the steal of the draft. Congrats Yotes.

But I'd be pretty happy with one of Bittner, Sprong, Fischer, Harkins, and maybe Blackwood the goalie. I'd be super thrilled if we do land Bittner tho! Kylington would be a very solid selection too, but it's time to start concentrating on our awful forward depth.

I can't confirm, but I had heard that he is not going to North Dakota now. Charlie Pelnik (sp?) is his name. Big kid as he was 6'4" as a young kid, but didn't quite develop. I think he's in the BCHL or some league like that now. He's 20 now, so draft year has gone by.

EDIT: Yep, I googled him and found an article from UND's website that states he's not going to ND.

He was out at pickup on Friday at RCI a few weeks ago - not really pro material anymore. The most impressive player out there was Trevor Owens who plays at Northeastern.

can't wait literally 5 minutes to put track on?

It's the national finals, they want to show it live. Is it that important to see the 30th overall pick happening right at that moment? I don't really care if I have to wait 5 minutes to see the last pick of the evening. Drafts are interesting, but not that interesting.

I would think we pick forward in round 2. My picks are either:

Paul Bittner, Jansen Harkins, or Daniel Sprong.

Didn't even realize Merkley and Roy were still there. Canes are getting a great player tomorrow.

In non-Canes news (kind of), according to Pittsburgh writers, Rutherford spent the entire draft trying to acquire a 1st round pick and/or Kessel/Skinner. Each time he was apparently met with "Pouliot or Maatta".

At the same time, Rutherford apparently changed his tune regarding "going younger" by claiming an interest in keeping Martin and/or Scuderi, and changed his tune regarding Pouliot/Maatta from a clear "No. They're not being traded" to "Probably not. We'll see."

Remember all the uproar when the Canes were winning some meaningless games in Feb/Mar because all that winning was going to push us out of contention for some of the elite talent in the draft like Hanifin or Strome? Nice to see things fall the Hurricanes way for once.

HF Flames draft party was v fun. they attempted to make a drinking game out of me, that, despite their best efforts, didn't work out very well, but it was all good

Maybe it's the year of that Cane and that luck continues
