David Jiricek, who we lost as part of the Jones deal, probably being sent down to the AHL. Another notch in the adage of "whoever gets the best player in the trade wins the trade". That's Jiricek, Sillinger, and Boqvist for Jones IIRC and despite Jones struggles he is by far the best player in the deal with no signs of either Jiricek or Sillinger breaking out into top line players.

Just saw the Reaves hit and dear god, that's probably the worst hit I've seen since Mike Richards on David Booth or Matt Cooke on Savard. Just pure intent to injure (or if not, pure stupidity of such a level, you're probably too dangerous to play hockey).

Reaves had him lined up for literally seconds before the hit, and obviously wanted to crush him. I don’t think he was necessarily head hunting the entire play, but that was the result and it absolutely deserves a suspension. At the same time Nurse was out for a skate with his head down the entire time. Just a bad combo.

Nurse is 6'4 without skates on, it takes effort to even reach that guy's head with your shoulder.

Don't forget about Allan.

Seems like we got the 2 best players in the deal.

To be fair

Jiricek is just 20 yrs old (Turns 21 at end of month)

Still, plenty of time for him

Jackets have mishandled his development though, If you're going to have him on NHL roster you need to play him and let him learn and experience the good and the bad

The problem is his attitude. He seems to refuse to be going to the ahl. Some think he may of threatened to go to Europe as why he hasn't been there this year.

Last year when sent down he complained publicly that Korchinski and Minty- in Anaheim were drafted after him and in the NHL but he wasn't.

No guarantee we pick Sillinger or Jiricek in the draft though, not to mention, probably would have drafted higher than 6th if we didn't have Jones on the team.

Maybe but it doesn’t seem like we missed out on any can’t miss guys in that top 10. Cooley would’ve been nice but how realistic is that?

Point being, people overrate prospects in comparison with proven NHL players. Jones should be a lot better for his cap hit but he’s still a solid NHL Dman.

Not yet no, could have also used those picks/prospects to trade for a young forward, or young Dman instead of a UFA to be in Seth jones who got a bloated contract. Still wasn't a good trade to make.
