Kings are going to be such a middling team for the foreseeable future. Felt like only a year ago that they had what was thought of to be a top 3 farm system. But what did it get them? Byfield is finally coming into his own and Brandt Clarke might turn into a solid piece, but Turcotte busted, Kupari busted, Bjornfot busted, Vilardi was traded for a highly overpaid 3C, Kaliyev is a non-factor. And they haven't had a top 50 pick in either of the last two years; though they do technically have Jack Hughes waiting in the wings...
They've got enough pieces where they won't bottom out (without a huge firesale), but they also don't have enough talent coming to take them further than getting their teeth kicked in by the Oilers.
So glad the Hawks lucked into a generational talent. Oilers>>>Kings
