Kucherov can't even asnwer post game questions. Too cool for school this guy. I used to really, really like him but he's becoming more and more of a douche.

Meh, these guys have to answer questions all the time. Maybe he was in a bad mood? I don't fault guys for not wanting to talk to the media after playing an intense game for 2 and half hrs, they don't owe the media anything.

Reminds me of Marshawn "I'm just here so I don't get fined" Lynch.

Piss poor attitudes when it comes to the media.

Someone needs to tell these players that you're still in the clock when the media is asking you questions. It's part of the job.

So put on a happy face and try your best to sell the game.

He’s making tens of millions of dollars to play a game. It’s part of his job description to answer media questions. I’ll give him or any player the benefit of the doubt on a given individual night but after he blew off the skills competition it seems like he’s just an asshole through and through

I get it on both ends. It's a bad look and the league does make talking to the media a contractual obligation for plenty of good reasons, but I've had many days at work where I want nothing to do with talking to people, even about work stuff. Could be Kucherov is in a mental funk, could be personal stuff going on, who knows. But if we're being honest hockey media is rarely creative with their pressers and when you're answering the same questions over and over I'm sure it's a mental grind even when you're in the best of moods. Perhaps he should better recognize where his biscuit is buttered but I can't say I blame him exactly

He answered the questions though. Does it say he has to answer them with enthusiasm?

He puts his heart out on the ice in regular season games and playoff games, that's what he is paid to do. I don't think his employer cares about his effort level at the all star game or his lack of joy answering lame media questions.

No doubt about it. Reilly is a very valuable player on a team that struggles defensively at the best of times. It looks like 6 games which is high for a Lady Byng contender.

On the positive side for Leafs, he will be needed in the playoffs if they are to do anything. A rest for a Dman who logs big minutes should be okay unless they totally collapse in his absence (and jeopardize their PO hopes).
Just so we’re clear, it’s obvious you don’t watch Leaf games (I see nearly all of them).
Not having Rielly for 5 games likely improves their defense. He is a top level offensive defenseman but a probable 3rd pairing guy defensively. Losing him could hurt their offense but they are deep there.

I’ll check the Tampa Trib for the note (it was a quip at the bottom of a different Bolt article.
Kucherov asked out of all star weekend with a nagging injury. League said be there or get suspended for 1 to 3 games. (Skills plus A.S. games.
The Lightning are not the dominant team they once were. The time off could have benefited THE TEAM letting him get healthier.

Right now he’s pissed and will do the minimum required of him outside the team.
It also appears that Cooper tags a few guys as available to the press every game. It is thought that as punishment the league is forcing Kucherov to that list every game.
So he has to appear … or be fined.

I agree that players should be open to media access, but let's be honest... other than moments when a player spectacularly puts their foot in their mouth, when was the last time you really cared about what a player said to a reporter?

This type of stuff always seems like things that beat writers get enraged about while fans largely don't care other than to mock players on other teams for being soft.
