Barkley is the best example for why they shouldn't draft Jeanty. He broke out because he went to a great offense with a great offensive line. He wasn't nearly as good on the Giants with a bad offense and a bad offensive line. The Patriots have a terrible offensive line. He'd be completely wasted here.

Did you watch Jeanty against Penn State? That's exactly what would happen if the Patriots drafted Jeanty.

At 10 we can grab a starter to play OT / WR or TE . I really like Ty Warren after what I saw what Brock Bowers did last year.

I like getting a pick to move down but if the offers are not coming in, plus Hunter and Carter gone then I’m leaning towards Jeanty. I also wouldn’t hate Tetairoa. Presumably pick the best weapon to compliment the offense and maybe trade back into the first to get an LT. I read somewhere 38 and a 3rd might get us back into the mid 20’s. Sounds good to me.
 
Saw Albert Breer on BST last night:

- Breer says it's "increasingly unlikely" that either Carter or Hunter will be on the board at #4 for the Patriots.

- Most teams have given Shedeur Sanders a 2nd round grade.

- Says teams generally think there's three blue chip players (Ward, Hunter, Carter) and then a bunch of guys who would have gone in the 20's in last year's draft. For that reason, he thinks the Patriots will have a tough time trading down.

If we pick Jeanty, what do we do with Stevenson and Gibson?
As good as Jeanty is, you can only run the ball effectively with a good Oline, which we do not have.

I saw something yesterday from Schefter that said something similar about Sanders, so it definitely looks like that dream is dead, though I wouldn't necessarily be surprised to see ownership intervene with the Browns or Giants.

I think saying the next group would have gone in the 20s last year is a bit harsh. I think they fit in with the group that went after Bowers. Graham probably goes ahead of Byron Murphy. Campbell and Membou's stock likely compares favorably to Fuaga and Mims'. Will Johnson probably would have been the first CB taken. Tet is worse than Brian Thomas, but it feels like he kind of got Justin Jefferson'd. Latu and Turner probably do go ahead of the Edges after Carter.

The point obviously remains that it's definitely not a great year to be drafting in the 4-10 range. I think it will be tough to trade down if they're not looking to move outside of the top 10, but I could see a team in the 20s wanting to move up because they don't like what the board will look like at their pick and it won't cost that much. But then if you're Vrabel and Wolf, how much value are you willing to give up on the trade chart?

If we take Hunter, what do we do with Bourne and Polk? An elite RB can make an average o-line look great.

Taking one of the OL at 4 wouldn't be good, you have to go BPA at 4 and its looking more and more likely that'll be Jeanty.

This year I play the hot hand. If Jeanty runs away with it I give it to him. If not I play all 3 and turn him into more of a true workhorse in year 2 when the line is more mature.

In essence I’d follow the Bijan Robinson/J Ghybbs development path.

I still believe Sanders goes 2 or 3. Present day Russell Wilson doesn’t change anyone’s long term plans. Cleveland has to be dying for a qb. If they don’t get Sanders or Dart they have failed. Maybe one team trades back into round 1. I don’t know.

First scenario is an interesting way to address positional risk. You have a college tackle in Campbell who might be an NFL guard, and you have a college guard in Jackson who played pretty well at tackle for half of the season and might be able to do it in the NFL. Do you take both and try to mitigate some risk hoping at least one of them can play tackle? Of course, the downside is that you end up with 2 guards, and with Onwenu already locked in, someone's playing out of position.

On Dianna Russini's podcast today, she said she thinks the Browns will eventually trade for Kirk Cousins. Just a matter of getting Atlanta to swallow as much of his contract as possible.

Schefter came out today and basically said that Browns and Giants are looking elsewhere at #2 and #3.

All of this comes out before Sanders has his pro day and visits. I bet the narrative changes after. It is to early to worry about all these "experts" and their mock drafts. The will have 5 more different ones between now and the draft.
