Could certainly be a loser org move but an even bigger loser org move would’ve been giving Maye a top WR group of Douglas/Bourne/Hollins for his sophomore year
 
Been looking at some more Mock Drafts tonight.

I'm just throwing this out there... If Abdul Carter is the guy who's on the board when the Patriots are picking at #4, I'd listen to trade offers. I think there's a scenario where a team like Carolina or Chicago could really offer some crazy value.

And while I like Carter, I think the Patriots' pass rush would be OK without him. If I could move back to the 8-10 range where I'd still be in position to possibly grab one of the premier OL in the draft, and pick up a whole bunch of Day 2 draft picks as well... I'd really have to consider it.

Fwiw, I am hoping my Dolphins move down from 13; So the Pats are in an ideal position to move down from 4!!!
 
Is Diggs the kind of guy to take some of the younger wide receivers under his wing and help make them better players or is he more of a selfish veteran? I honestly dont know. I feel these kids could use a good vet to be around in the room and in practice to help push them along to the next level in their careers.

Apparently the houston WR loved him- everywhere I’ve seen says he works incredibly hard

The only character knock is he demands the ball and gets mad at his QB when he doesn’t get it. Good news for him we have nobody else to throw to. And also there is a hilarious video of the Vikings from back in the day when all the players get asked who on the team they’d least want to date their sister and everybody asked laughed and said Stefon lmao

Adam Schefter Shares Promising Stefon Diggs Injury Update After Patriots Signing — Sports Illustrated

New England's news pass catcher tore his ACL last October.

The New England Patriots and Stefon Diggs agreed to a three-year, $69 million contract on Tuesday night—$23 million of which is guaranteed.

The wide receiver is set to boost quarterback Drake Maye's pass catching arsenal once he recovers from the torn ACL he suffered last October and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, said recovery may come sooner than you think.

"New Patriots WR Stefon Diggs ... is on track to return for Week 1 of the upcoming season," Schefter wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). "It was another reason the Patriots felt comfortable giving Diggs the three-year, $69 million deal that GM Eliot Wolf and Diggs’ agent Adisa Bakari of [The Sports & Entertainment Group] negotiated."




The Patriots hosted Diggs on a two-day visit last Thursday into Friday, which—according to SI's Albert Breer—consisted of a dinner, meetings, and a physical. Though the 31-year-old left New England without a deal, the two sides came to one on Tuesday, and he'll play in red, white, and blue in 2025.

Diggs joins a wide receiver room in New England that consists of Kendrick Bourne, DeMario Douglas, Ja'Lynn Polk, and Mack Hollins, among others. They were among the worst pass-catching groups in the NFL last season, with none surpassing 700 yards.

Would you add Amari Cooper if he took a 1 year deal? Is there another veteran WR available you would like to add to our group. I think there is room for at least one more FA.
I would sign Cooper to a 1 year deal, but I think it should be 10 million or less and that probably means he wouldn't be interested. But bring him in, if you draft Hunter, now have Hunter play where you see him long-term. If Hunter or someone else proves to be a more reliable and more dangerous weapon, then Cooper becomes veteran depth like K Bourne.

Probably not.

I think there's an organizational need to use the 2025 season to determine once and for all which of their young WRs (Boutte, Douglas, Polk, Baker) can play, and which ones they need to move on from.
 
Legit #1 guy, but on the wrong side of 30, coming off an ACL. Guys usually aren't usually 100% coming off an ACL till there 2nd season back. He should be highly motivated though.

I feel like Belichick would force kids to outplay veterans at every position. You can’t just assume the kids will step up. Now we could argue that Bourne and Hollins fill that role to a degree so maybe standing pat isn’t terrible. I don’t think anybody but Diggs should feel like a lock so competition should be good.

Absolutely a step in the right direction. This rebuild is going to be a process, and the Patriots should just keep adding the pieces. I think it will take a little while for so many new players to gel into a cohesive team, but the Patriots could have done a lot worse for sure.

I doubt they take an OT if Carter or Hunter are around, would be a HUGE mistake.
Better to draft the best player available and take an OT in round two.
With Diggs on board now and the potential of Polk and or Baker improving, I can see us not taking a WR until the 4th round now.
In a perfect world, after our first round pick, assuming its Hunter or Carter, I would like to see:
OT - round 2
RB and TE round 3
WR round 4
K round 5 ( would love Ryan Fitzgerald here)
C round 7
Safety round 7
LB round 7

Agreed it would be a huge mistake. But with the money they spent on DT and now Diggs, I could easily see this front office saying "we plugged those holes in FA, lets use 4 to fill the OL hole"
