NFL Flexible Scheduling

"Allows teams to play their way onto the Sunday night schedule.

In 2006 the NFL implemented a primetime "flexible scheduling" element on Sundays in Weeks 10-15 and in Week 17. In 2014 that was extended so that games between Weeks 5 and 17 could be affected by flex scheduling. However, only two games may be flexed into Sunday Night between Week 5 and 10.

Flexible scheduling ensured quality matchups on Sunday night in those weeks and gave surprise teams a chance to play their way onto primetime. The NBC Sunday night time slot for "flex" weeks lists the game tentatively scheduled for Sunday night.

Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game will be moved to an afternoon start time. Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday, Saturday or Monday nights.

Just as the six major college football conferences have done for many years, the NFL has the flexibility to move the start times of games on Sundays, using a 12-day notice format.

For example, a game scheduled for a Sunday could move from a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff to an 8:15 p.m. start, but the change would be made and announced no later than the prior Tuesday, 12 days prior. Sunday afternoon games, as in the past, can still be moved between 1:00 and 4:05 or 4:25 p.m. ET.

In Week 17, in order to ensure a Sunday night game with playoff implications, the decision to move the start time may be made on six days notice."

Hell baby
When was the last time the Pats won scoring less than 20?

I remember a low scoring Browns game but I'm having trouble off the top of my head. Browns game may have been 9-3 IIRC

Lol just checked that game was in 2003. Of all the games to remember....I probably pushed valuable info out of my brain for that smh

Patriots won, I believe 4 or 5 games that year scoring under 20.

It was nice to see Logan Ryan rebound.

I want to see a breakdown of how we contained Von Miller, so if anyone sees one, please post it. I didn't pay attention to Miller the whole game, but I know it wasn't all Cannon. On at least one play, we had Thuney pull to Miller's side in pass protection. And of course we also used RBs and TEs to help.

Anyone watch the Bungles, Burfict and to a lesser degree Pacman self destruct again?

What a clown show they are. How many times are they going to pull that crap before that organization moves on from them?

Hilarious update to Von Miller's Wikipedia page, where it says he is "now owned by Marcus Cannon of the New England Patriots.":laugh:

Starts with the coach. The atmosphere will never change while Lewis is the coach. He's definitely an "inmates run the asylum" type coach.

Still don't understand how he still is even the coach, but that's a completely different conversation.

What happened to Marcus Cannon?

Is Dante Scarnecchia that good?

Butch Cassidy doing the same with Colin Miller?

He's not a guard, and they would rotate him into G and T as the 6th guy in the rotation a few years ago.

He's been incredibly solid at RT this season, and has completely made Vollmer expendable in the offseason.

They highlighted a play during the broadcast yesterday, might have been during halftime, where Cannon keeps his hands down to his sides after the snap against Miller so Miller had nothing to grab/push away from Cannon to get by him. That's incredibly good technique against an elite pass rusher.

Dan Koppen was saying that Scar wouldn't teach him that, that Cannon was doing that on his own. I'd be curious to hear exactly what the story was on that.

I'd be willing to bet it's something they caught on film that Miller has a tendency to do, and worked with Cannon to neutralize it.

Just goes to show you how incredibly thorough they are in EVERY aspect of the game.

I wouldn't bet against it. i just found Koppen's comments interesting.

This game was a must win IMO and wouldn't be surprised if they deviated from the norm to neutralize such a great player.

No, no, no. They just show up and win. Didn't you read Dan Shaughnessy?

Does anyone read Dan Shaughnessy anymore?

I don't even think Shaugnessy reads Shaughnessy. So much easier to recycle every article he's written from 20 years ago; cutting and pasting in the name of the team to the same theme over and over. In the parlance of the only sport he ever know anything about (and that's being generous); he lost his fastball a long time ago.
