Danny Amendola expected to miss rest of regular season
http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/p...ny-amendola/wUQ7XcyGYNMXanDtnExG8H/story.html

The Patriots lost another pass catcher — at least for the rest of the regular season — as Danny Amendola suffered a high ankle sprain fielding a punt in Sunday’s 26-10 win over the Rams.

According to an NFL Network report, Amendola will miss the remainder of the regular-season slate (four games), and the hope is that he’ll be able to return for the postseason.

Amendola left the game late in the third quarter after his right ankle got caught underneath Los Angeles’s Michael Thomas and bent awkwardly as he was being tackled. He hobbled to the bench briefly before retreating to the locker room. He was seen leaving the facility in a walking boot and on crutches.

No big loss IMO. Amendola has been at best a decoy this season.

Mitchell has shown me more in the last 3 weeks than Amendola has the last 3 years.

Hell baby
Amendola is always good for a key play every couple of games.

Gonna miss him on the punt team if they keep trotting Cyrus jones back out there...

The receiving game will be fine without him. I saw some article suggest signing Keshawn Martin to help with the punts/be a 5th target...I don't mind that idea

I'd be on board with that, they need another body at WR anyways. Might as well bring someone in who knows the system, and the kicking game aspect of it is a bonus.

Jones terrifies me.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Pats beat the Ravens Monday night at home. Why do you some people think Peyton was better than Brady? :help: They're the same people who think that Brees has a better career than Bradshaw or Elway. :help: Barkevious Mingo is the best name in the league.

To be fair, Brees seems terribly underrated nowadays, if anything.

In the regular season only I have him top 6 all time, but he's not better than Brady, Montana, or Bradshaw as some of the younger posters (outside the Bruins forum, not you) rank him.

Reminds me of the old Foxboro Stadium

I can't stand people sometimes. I'm glad I grew up and realized that it's all just a game. Nothing while watching professional sports is worth fighting or even being a jerk to someone over. I used to trash talk a lot when I was in college at sporting events. I look back on that behavior and cringe SO hard. Absolutely embarrassing.

That's sensible. But a case could be made when all is said and done (especially over Bradshaw). Having to deal with free agency and salary cap is often put forth as an argument for Brady over Montana (though they shouldn't really be needed giving that the biggest argument you see for Montana is that he never lost a Super Bowl, when that just means he lost to the Giants in the Divisional Round (including taking the L in that 49-3 beating) instead of the Super Bowl ), and that's certainly hit Brees as well, compared to if he had been on a continously stacked team of old. Then again, if it weren't for free agency, he might still be stuck with the Chargers instead of Rivers, so it could also be worse... :sarcasm:

It's tough to compare QBs, even more so in completely different eras, but Brees is for sure up there (what "there" is is debatable :)).

It's a joke to just look at the stats and consider most of the QBs that play today to be among the best all time. Half the league's QBs put up 4,000 yds with regularity nowadays. 20+ years ago, maybe one or two QBs did it each year. The style of play, the rules changes, the neutering of defenses, you name it. It's sooooo much easier to play QB in today's NFL.

Most of today's QBs wouldn't have lasted 5 years if they played 25+ years ago.

Bigger joke to discredit guys because they play in this era. Some things are easier today, others are tougher (at least for the top guys).

I admittedly know nothing about NFL history, but I do find it interesting the sheer number of offensive players, especially QB's, that get talked about as "sure HOF'ers". Multiple times a year I hear a guy is going in the Hall upon retirement and I think "really, he's that good?"

There's certainly a lot less that defenses can get away with nowadays and that directly benefits offensive stats. Got to sell those tickets...and keep players healthy.

That being said...not so sure about questioning toughness. I think the longevity of today's players may be longer because of better equipment, consciousness of safety, but I find it hard to believe individual players from a different era are tougher or less tough.

Examples?

I'm not the guy you're replying to, but I don't get how you're saying half of today's QBs wouldn't survive if they played 25 years ago. Are you saying old quarterbacks are tougher or "built differently" in order to play through concussions and other injuries? The game was more violent then, but that doesn't mean a QB today wouldn't have been able to play in it.

So the giants have accused the steelers of deflating balls last week? How is that even possible with new rules? It was cold in pitt last week so i am sure goodell will conclude that science caused the issue!

Awesome. Finally get something to feel good about for the Dolphins and now Tannehill is done for the year after getting hit in the knee.
