So basically this guy doesn’t really want the job told everyone this 2 weeks ago so we’re overpaying him to come here like he’s got a Cup on his resume even though he’s never coached an nhl game or had any real success anywhere.

What are we doing?

Sure, if you want to believe unconfirmed BS speculation you can think that.

Really no way for anyone to have a strong take on this. We have no idea, unless you furiously follow BU hockey.

Sounds like he's been their guy for awhile so I'll trust to organization.
Nah, they read his WIN/LOSS stats on hockeyDB.com, I trust that over someone who actually knows his coaching style and how he develops players.

How’s it nonsense? Read the tweets. We’ve had to offer this guy sweeteners twice! He didnt want TO leave BU. And He’s done nothing to deserve it.

Only established nhl coaches get 5 year 2 plus mil a year contracts. Not guys from college.

What are you guys smoking
I think BU was the guys literal dream job, and he hasn’t been there all that long, that’s why they need to give him the money to pry him away

I'm a bit concerned reading about his motivational abilities when I'd take being good actual strategy over motivational abilities 100 times out of 100.

Idk bout y’all, but I absolutely cannot wait for the overreactions and projections based on the CF% of our first preseason game with Quinn as coach
I have five different iterations of posts ready to go in a notepad file that are waiting to be copy and pasted:

1. At least under AV we got some good looks
2. Go back to the NCAA
3. Bawstahn, yeah?
4. Fire Gorton
5. Sign Nakladal

Don't kid yourself.

You've created a background program that auto-inputs this into every text box you click into.

The Rangers could do what the Knicks did. They announced Fizdale in a press release and the press conference was held a few days later.

From what I've read:

Puck possession game and allowing the D to join the offense, and using the D to make transitions up the ice using controlled zone entries with passes or skating it in. Chip and chase is not utilized unless absolutely necessary.

I had said Quinn was the guy from the get-go.

This is probably more about the family's preference. At a certain price point, maybe he can't turn it down.

Not sure that's the best scenario for anyone involved.

As a player, Quinn was 13th overall in 1984. Played 19 games with Binghamton in 1990-91. This was one year prior to the infamous Kovalev car rides to and from upstate NY. Was also an assistant coach for a poor 2012-13 Avs squad (led by Joe Sacco for a good part of the year)

Regarding Quinn's record at BU, what did people expect?

He was there five years. In each of his most recent four seasons, he coached the team to .600+ hockey and made the tournament. His teams won the Hockey East championship in both 2015 and 2018 (you know, this year). And here were his results in the Frozen Four:

  • 2015: his 1 seed BU team beat the 4 seed, Yale, in round one, the 2 seed, Minnesota-Duluth, in round two, the Western Bracket winner, UND, in round three, and lost to the Eastern Bracket winner, Providence, in the final.
  • 2016: his 3 seed BU team lost to the 2 seed, Denver, in round one (the one year his squad got truly smoked, losing in the first round by the score of 7-2).
  • 2017: his 2 seed BU team beat the 3 seed, UND, in round one (in 2 OT) and lost to the 1 seed, Minnesota-Duluth, in round two (in OT).
  • 2018: his 4 seed BU team beat the 1 seed, Cornell, in round one and lost to the 2 seed, Michigan, in round two.
Would I have liked to have seen one national championship, maybe one more second round win? Sure. But that's a pretty friggin' good record.

If Montgomery loses the final in 2017 (which his team won 3-2) and Quinn wins the final in 2015 (which his team lost 4-3), which coach is the guy who's "just a good recruiter"?

Not really liking what I read about DQ but I can get behind it. Lets see what he can do, if he can develop players then that's all that matters. We dont hire Quinn if were not rebuilding
