Todd McLellan wouldn't be a bad pick. He was strong in San Jose and Edmonton's roster was trash. You can't fault his inability to win in either location because neither team has won shit before or after he was there.

The 5 year deal is confusing. How long is this f***ing rebuild expected to take???

What does player salary have to do with WD being an interim coach?

Nothing. It has a lot to do when considering how many chances Blake gets to hire a coach though, and who "counts" as a hire on Blake's ledger. WD coached roughly 84% of the Kings season this year, you think Anshutz (or Beckerman, who answers to him) is gonna just say "Oh you said he was an INTERIM coach, ok then it's cool you just blew untold millions of the company's money. No problem, this won't count against you in any way. I just didn't see that you said he was INTERIM, my bad. Here, take a mulligan."

Yeah right.

What Blake is doing with the success of the franchise, which ultimately dictates how profitable it is, is absolutely judged by his superiors. They're not going to give him a free pass on this entire season just because of the word interim. Especially when the lack of season ticket renewals start rolling in.

I wonder if Blake can hire McLellan as an interim head coach for five years? So it doesn't count.

Whether the coach is good or bad, that expense has to be paid. And I bet WD's price was pretty cheap relatively speaking.
Depends on how you define cheap. If you pay $100 for a guy to re-pipe your bathroom (what an amazing deal!) and he does a shitty job that's leaking into the drywall and the subfloor and you don't notice for 6 months, how good of a deal was it?

We are talking about coaching hires. WD was an interim coach. How f***ing hard is that to understand? He is not Housley, who was fired after a poor performance, he is a guy who was hired to finish off a season. Once the season was over his period of performance ended. How is this so hard to grasp?

I don’t know dude. You’re arguing with a bunch of people about this. You tell me how hard is it for you to grasp?

Blake knew the team was beyond repair, he said as much after the road trip loss against Ottawa (before playing Toronto), and this was back in October. The team was a lost cause, and he hired a patsy with an expiration date.

Interim coaches are hired to finish off a season. Interim coaches are not fired at the end of said season because the contract was only to finish off the season. Would you have liked it more if Blake filled in himself like Murray did rather than bring in an interim from outside? Would that make you feel better?

I don’t need to feel better, but it sure seems like you need a hug or something. You can be right dude, I don’t care anymore.

Way to completely miss the point. I don't care, but I'm sure Anshutz does, just like I said the first time.
I get the point, just addressing the statment you made.It doesn't matter to Anschutz or he fire Blake and Luc if it was a issue.I think some should let the owner and those he has employed to run the team and make these type of decisions instead of fans. All this whining is actually hilarious.Anyone who cliams their done with the team if a certain coach is hired, well cya.Nearly 40 years I've with the Kings,I'm not a fake fan,I'll stick with my teams thru the good and bad.

I love my team because pls be whiskey.jpg? Or some shit. I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about at this point. I am neither whining nor saying I’m done with this team if they do X. I had season tickets when everyone was injured and Brad Chartrand was the best player we could put on the ice for chrissakes. I’ll always be a fan, doesn’t mean that some things make it harder to watch than others.

You make no sense. The statment I made was a observation of some fans the last month or so have been a ting like.Youre one of the folks who attacked K17 and I since around 2015/2016 for telling the board then, this team wasnt a contender as set and had a few holes then. Please spare me your bs.I laugh now seeing you finally opened your eyes to what we've said all along. Its you that needs a hug,not the poster you told that to.

Congrats dude. Here’s your prize:

4-5 years seems to be the norm for new hires. Now it depends on the salary he wants. I can't see him wanting anything more than 3 mil per. Troz is making 4 after winning a cup, Q just signed for 5 and change.
