Rumor says Brock Nelson is available and could be had for a 2nd. That would give the Canes the #2 Center they really need. That would make KK available for another trade Although I did like his fight for Necas and Orlov tonight.
Surely they’ll get more than a 2nd for him. I mean I don’t know shit about shit but that seems crazy low. Would love to have him as a cane though

The top pair is really showing their age lately. Burns because he actually is on the decline and doesn’t have the mobility he once did, and Slavin perhaps showing the mileage of what they’ve asked him to do throughout his career. Slavin used to go very long stretches without making a significant defensive error or turnover. It seems like he’s lost a little bit of that focus and/or his feet are a little heavier.
Slavin is being asked to do too much every game and it's showing. We can't keep saddling him with shit defenders or we are going to run his career right into the ground way too early

Yep. That is one of the drawbacks of losing Pesce/Skjei who took on the toughest assignments the last few years. And our 3rd pairing not being as good defensively as last year either.

Orlov/Chatfield, while performing well, aren't taking on the toughest matchups like Pesce/Skjei did the last couple of years. Slavin/Burns are now facing tougher assignments than prior years because of that.

It would be like a college club hockey team beating the defending NCAA Division 1 champions.

Oh, wait. Nevermind.

They are a very young team with 3 16 year olds and a couple of 17 year olds so for just that the loss by Canada was huge.

FWIW: I watched a good bit of their back to back against USA yesterday. They didn’t look bad at all and had plenty of good chances that USA goalie stopped in first two periods.

Honestly, given his lack of production lately, maybe a few games to rest and recover from whatever injury he's probably dealing with isn't the worst thing
Ah, the old injure a player so he can rest from a different injury approach. :sarcasm:

Didn't he just have his first ever 3 assist game that last game?

EDIT: Looks like he's back on the ice.

Love that our players keep coming back from the dead. Necas, Orlov, & Jarvy.
Didn't you get the memo about Necas? Due to the fact that he continued playing it means he experienced no pain and was participating in a nefarious act of trickery. This is no laughing matter and will surely result in a long grounding punishment where he won’t be able to play with his friends and all device time will be rescinded.

Yea, it's not like you could see his leg twist sideways at the knee or anything. Orlov also wasn't wiping blood from his face, he went to the bench to splash chloroform on his hand and suffocate innocent Haula.

So, here is the current Wolves defensive roster.

With Smith on the big club right now, if another starter gets injured do Canes go to market or bring up one of these 6? Internally and by age, Ryan is the left call up and Morrow the right call up.

Thoughts?

I think it's kinda silly when folks that attend practices bother posting these "so and so just got hurt in practice and went off" when 99% of the time the guy comes back out like five minutes later.

So, here is the current Wolves defensive roster.

While it might depend on the role of the guy that gets injured, you'd think Stillman, who is the other guy that is frequently called up and down as insurance, would be next in line.

My guess:
With the recall of Stillman, if it was a short term injury, they may not do anything.
If it's "out for the season", they may look at the market.
If it's "week to week" they probably tap into Chicago.

Interesting. If he got injured where I thought he did, it looked like a nothing play. It was midway through the 3rd on Friday. The puck was leaving the offensive zone, Bratt (I believe) flipped it out and Ghost comes from the bench to finish a check on him. He did bounce off that check awkwardly, but I wasn't expecting anything long-term from it.

Still man shoots left so I gather that makes Morrow next man up on right side.
