I wish US fans cared more about the regular season than they do.

The playoffs is a crap shoot. The regular season shows who the best teams are. Things like the top seed in the conference or President's Trophy should have far, far more meaning and pride associated with it than they are.

That's why Dean Smith always thought the regulat season champs should get the NCAA nod. He undersood the conference tourney for what it was ($, marketing, fan involvement, etc.) . Mattered much more back when only one school from a conference got a bid and later with multiple schools, an automatic one.

I wonder whether the NHLPA starts coming down at some point on players playing effectively a full NHL season (or a sizeable portion of it) and getting shenanigised out of ~half of their NHL salary.

As a player, my cumulated aggravation might show come the RFA contracting time.

Playing a little Civ 6 today and its clear what is on my mind:

I guess that’s really the point of disagreement then. I don’t think anyone walks into the building and sees four banners in 27 years and thinks “oh, that’s a great franchise”. Likewise with NC State. The color-coding used to take care of the question of which banners manner the most. Now we’ve diminished the importance of all the other hard-fought seasons, without elevating anything.

To be clear, I think the Canes *should* be hanging banners for division championships. I think that's a significant accomplishment.

I disagree on NC State. I think they had way, way too many banners for too many unimpressive things and it I always internally laughed *at* NC State when I went into RBC/PNC/Lenovo and saw all their banners. The color coding did not help. It was an utter joke. Far too many banners for far too middling a team.

On top of all that, it was the height of ridiculous when the Canes consolidated significant banners while NC State was giving themselves gold stars for just showing up.
