Based on what we have right now I like the lineup a lot. I wouldn’t change anything until we’ve seen how it does for a bit.
My only change: flip Pyotr for Freddie in getting more starts.

3 of our 4 lines are going to be really fast and Jordon’s as I noted will be ball breakers (and Martinook is damn fast too).

Ah, probably just have preseason optimism and the year will be crap :).

It’s balanced. Lemieux and Jost are lesser fits imo, I would choose Robinson over them for that role every day of the week. Adding Blake, Robinson and JR absolutely makes us a faster team this season, especially when you consider we’re subtracting TT, Fast and Noesen who are all somewhere between slow and acceptable whereas the new three are all pretty fast. I think the system makes a lot more sense with speed, and it can make up a bit for the lack of skill. Needing a couple of top six forwards has been a consistent thing but when it’s a slower group on top of that I think it’s hard to get too far. When you consider guys like Statsny, Stepan, Noesen etc… playing in the bottom six vs these guys I’d put money on us being able to notice the difference overall on team speed. KK and Staal apply the brakes to the group a bit but they’re both surrounded with quicker legs.

Carrier too, I don’t think of him as overly fast but I’d put him in the Martinook category of hustling to the point of making them seem quick at least.

A nasty storm!!

Estimated 50% of FL’s 24M population without power right now with counties by Amelie Center seeing 70% of their customer base down.

You have to think Sat’s game will have to be moved.

Edit: we lost power at 4AM and numerous roads in Collier County are closed due to flooding. Ugh.

Edit2: it looks like TPA will open later today or tomorrow. So flights should resume.

I just don't understand going with Freddie in the crease. I know first hand that the coaches were completely frustrated with how he played in the Rangers series last year, and had it said to me directly a few times that the crease is Kochetkov's going forward. Its time for Kooch to be the guy here, its time to hand him the reigns.

I know its largely a symbolic thing, the predicted lines could be wrong and Freddie won't get the start tomorrow, and it really only matters about usage over the course of the year, but I really don't like some of the mental games we've been playing with Kooch the last couple years. The kid has earned his shot, its time to go into the season knowing the crease is his to lose.

I've been on record that I think they'll still split the crease pretty often when healthy. A lot of people have convinced themselves it's Pyotr's crease, and maybe they'll be right, but I'll believe it when I see it. And in the regular season when these guys have tended to get banged up, I don't really mind if they do. The playoffs are what really matter and I hope they go with Koch then, but we have a lot of season to play out between now and then and that could change.

Also keep in mind this is still a back to back until it isn't. Could just be a little respect to the vet for the home portion.

If you think Kooch is the stronger better goalie then doesn't it make some sense to go with him on the 2nd game of a back to back with travel (if the game happens) You trust Freddie enough at home to get the win with the fresh squad and go with Kooch when they are "weaker".

Probably paycheck driven..if they are paying..he's playing. Cynical, I know.

While that might be true, first game of the year, in front of your fans, you typically see the best lineup they can ice on that night.

My brother in law is on his way for power restoration, 3 weeks is what he was told. His crew was the only one left in our area, rest of them was sent to the mountains.
