Yeah Zach basically stopped one step short of pulling a Mogilny and saying this is not what I wanted to do after leaving lol.

That is really really cool. Almost forgot the trash can was a 1st round pick overall.

Was called the best goalie drafted since Brodeur back in 01!

One day I will dig this magazine article up, and scan it. I figure we'll wait until a few more brutal performances though to get the maximum effect of hilarious!:laugh::laugh:

Tallinder, Josefson and Merrill for O'Reilly.

Seriously? I'd do it. Tallinder, and Josefson are a bunch of crap to them in regards to that package. We might need a draft pick in there to pull that off.

So the Blue Jackets have a new GM. First European GM in the NHL (Finnish).

Davidson liked what he saw out of Jarmo Kekalainen during their time in St. Louis. The Blues did pretty well with their post-lockout drafts and I think Kekalainen was a top scout for Ottawa in the late 90s as well.

Blues reached for T.J. Oshie which worked out. They had Patrik Berglund ranked as a top 10 guy in 2006 and were able to trade up (unfortunately through us) to get him.

He left the Blues after the 2010 Draft and took a job GM'ing in Finland. It's always interesting to see how well a respected scout will do as a GM. Slightly different skill sets between identifying young talent and managing trades/contracts.

That is correct.

Hossa, Spezza, Vermette, Emery, Backes, Polak, Perron, Oshie, Berglund and Pietrangelo are all his draft picks.

He's probably the exact guy that the Blue Jackets need. He's a big believer in advanced statistics and won't go out of his way to make a splash based on some perceived toughness or intangible issue. That's a boon for a team that needs to start competing regardless of perception.

Of course, there's a difference between knowing what players to add and actually managing a team once those players come to you with complains and concerns and the like.

John Davidson will be there to oversee the personnel decisions. I think he will do fine in that regard. Once they get on the bench though - that's when the rubber meets the road. The good news is the Columbus fanbase is so accustomed to losing, any improvement will be noticed and appreciated.

Great day for the Jackets. This reminds me of when I was in Chicago and Bill Wirtz died. You could tell that the whole franchise had just turned around.
