Just out of curiosity, why did the owners have their ratification vote today before the 'Memo of understanding' was finished? Obviously the PA vote's being delayed until this weekend because they want to wait until it is finished.

Imagine if they really 'had' taken it down to this Thursday or Friday with negotiations, they wouldn't be able to get in a 48-game season unless everything got pushed back another week with the way it's going. Maybe last weekend really was DEFCON 1 as far as getting a deal done, or not.

That is one incredible statistic.

I think we've had 3 or 4 players - Josefson, Urbom, Larsson off the top of my head - to play in NHL games, and we were generally picking project picks late in drafts.

Odd fact: Nazem Kadri was the only player Burke drafted in Toronto to play for the Leafs.

He was only there for 4 drafts, one of which was this season (Morgan Reilly) so its impossible for him to have played yet. That leaves him with 3 drafts. Two first round picks were traded for Kessel. That leaves one first round pick. Nazem Kadri. It's not like he missed on a bunch of first round picks.

Considering late round picks take longer to develop, its not all that shocking. How many picks since 2009 have played for us? Jake and Larsson. 2 to 1. Big difference.

To be fair he only started in 2009. Urbom, Josefson, and Larsson are the only guys who've skated for the Devils in the same time span. Detroit's only gotten ten games out of Tomas Tatar and Riley Sheahan, but I think Ken Holland knows what he's doing. St. Louis has 7 games out of Jaden Schwartz in the same time span and they have a tremendous future.
