Tallinder and Barch won't be bought out.

Personally, I wouldn't buyout anyone unless it kept us from re-signing Zajac/Elias/Clarkson/Zubrus, but we'll have plenty of space so I doubt that would happen. If it did, I would buy out either Salvador or Volchenkov for the reasons you indicated.

I don't see any albatrosses or crippling contracts that scream BUY ME OUT I'M DESTROYING THE TEAM.

No point to buying out Barch. Salvador maybe, Volchenkov possibly. I don't expect Tallinder to be bought out.

Yeah there really is no point in buying out Barch since his contract isn't anything significant, but I can see them buying him out especially if he's a waste of space like Boulton, and Peters were after a year.

I think we'll use one. Maybe not two. Tallinder could probably be traded for a bag of pucks with just a year left after this.

I'm pretty sure the Devils have a string of 7 or so straight goals against that could be blamed entirely on Foster (And kinda the goalie for not stopping the puck, I guess).

Oddly enough his biggest blunders were during the 5 game winning streak/7 game point streak after all star break. That's what I remember the most at least.

There was some numbing figure like him being on the ice for like 9 or 10 of 12 even strength goals during one stretch.

Similar to the NBA, the NHL has instituted a free-agency interview period prior to the actual signing period. UFAs will be able to meet and interview with potential clubs from the day after the NHL draft until June 30, prior to the July 1 opening of free agency.

What’s interesting about this is that I don’t think you’ll have a Zach Parise/Ryan Suter situation where you wait all the way to July 4 to sign with a team. Instead, their decisions will be made by June 30 for the most part, you would have to assume.

interesting...

No....the CBA only affects contracts going forward. Anything signed before this CBA is ratified is grandfathered in. This doesn't affect Kovalchuk, Parise, Suter or Weber.

False. It is called the luongo rule for a reason. It effects current deals.

Ranger fans continue to make me laugh with their Cup predictions. Do they realize they only have 3 competent D-men signed? Sauer is still out, not sure what they expect from Stralman, Bickel, and Eminger, and Del Zotto is unsigned. When Redden begins to count against the cap, they will be 500k over the cap. Factor in Sauer on LTIR, and they'll have 750k cap space with Del Zotto unsigned.

Cup.

Capgeek has actually been updated to reflect the upcoming season's salary cap. The Rangers have just under $5.5m in free space (after factoring in Redden's dead space) with Del Zotto unsigned.

Yeah, and they had defensive rankings, and the Rangers were first. :amazed:

Right now, we have just as good as a defense as the Rangers if not better, and our depth is far, far, far superior to there's.

The Rangers have 3 guys that would be the best D-man on the Devils, IMO.

That being said, the Devils have 8 guys that would be on at least the Rangers 3rd pairing.

I'm loving the idea of the Flyers sheeing MDZ.

Flyer fans are happy they are getting Foster. Devils fans are happy the Flyers are getting Foster.

I remember shouting "Get off my ****ing team, Foster!" at my screen at one point last year.

Stralman is at least somewhat capable, but your right, they still have a hole on defence. I liked to say that they played us in the ECF with four and a half defencemen. Staal, Girardi, McDonagh, Del Zotto, and the other assorted nuts.

Del Zotto was god awful in games five and six too. Especially six.

Anyone else still loving the fact that we have Stevens on our coaching staff? I hope to see some brutal hits out there.

Think of Torts getting into it with Stevens! He walks into the Rangers bench, and starts knocking Rangers guys over just to get to Torts, and picks him up by his neck!
