Curious why on earth would you not want divisional playoffs back?

NHL screwed up when they abandoned Div playoffs in early 90's for this garbage NBA setup

While divisional playoffs do guarantee playing a div. rival in the playoffs (good), it rules out playing a rival in the Conference Finals (bad). It also means you're probably playing the same couple teams in the playoffs every year, which can get dreary.

I sometimes get nostalgic for the good ol' Patrick Division playoffs but I can see the advantage of the current setup.

Well that's disappointing...The agent of Fleischmann and Kuba tweeted a trade would be announced shortly and it is...

Calgary just got a lot tougher. Brian McGrattan heading back to the Flames.

How this Flames team is managed ? Their way of rebuilding looks awful. Iginla should've been traded for high draft picks and prospects something like 3 years ago now.

I don't think anyone can blame them for not trading Iginla.

I can't for the life of me imagine why Feaster is signing guys like Cervenka and Wideman and Hudler though. That team is made top to bottom of nothing but complimentary and league-average players. They're like the Caps (the Caps now at least) in how they have to rely every night for primary scoring on players who SHOULD be bottom 6 or complimentary guys.

DiPietro told me Isles waiving him felt like, "they ripped my heart out, stabbed it, set it on fire and flushed it down the toilet."

Oh wow, goes a little deeper

@KMaherNews12 DiPietro: injuries, losing and fan hatred over the past 3 years made him think about killing himself at one point

DiPietro also admitted injuries, losing and fan hatred over the past 3 years made him think about killing himself at one point.

Woah . Wow , feel bad for the guy

The guy just needs a hug. Seems like barely anyone talked to him throughout the process. I mean... this happens a lot in a situation like he`s facing, but if you have a good support system around you, none of that should happen to you.

Must be tough for him though, no way around that.

Seriously, I feel awful for DP. I hope that someone helps him through this. I'm sure he feels guilty and responsible when he wasn't at fault whatsoever. His body broke down, he was offered a ridiculous contract that he would be foolish to deny and he always came to play when he was able to.

Not good for the islanders organization either. Doesn't look like they provide much support for their players

Now I actually feel bad for DP. Still in the Isles best interest to use an amnesty buyout on him.

It sucks he's thought about killing himself, but hopefully he can find some support.

Yeah, the guy had the worst luck. After the absurd contract (not his fault), he just had bad break after bad break. I hope he gets his life back on track with whatever he ends up doing.

Damn, I feel horrible for DiPi. Sucks that injuries got the best of him. Never knew his emotions hit him that hard. Isles need to make sure he he's taken care of regardless if he plays in the pros or minors.

Honestly, I don`t think many teams do. Maybe NSH/VAN since on of their players died, but other than those two...

Man that suicide tweet made it so much harder on my conscience to post zingers about DiPietro :/
Maybe that`s the real purpose of that tweet. :naughty:

Ok wait now

Brett Cyrgalis ‏@BrettCyrgalis
Rick DiPietro on report that he has contemplated suicide: "100 percent" facetious in his interview

How do you say that you thought about killing yourself but you are not intending for it to be taken seriously?

This guy is just fishing for attention now

Sympathy meter for him just plummeted from me.

There is a chance he's saying he was being facetious so it's not overblown, though he was really being serious.

Can someone explain to me how Dipietro can have any beef with Isles waiving him?

He isn't an NHL goalie anymore ,, They cant continue to waste time/effort on him being an NHL G

I personally cannot understand him having beef with the Isles waiving him. I feel bad for the guy, but it happens. I understand him not being happy with the fans booing him, and all those other things. Not with being waived though. He's got like 8 years left after this. He couldn't have expected them to keep him.

He was really bad in the last game he played. He was bad in most of them this season. I watched them. He won't get another NHL job either, because there are better/more serviceable goalies out of work right now like Brent Johnson. He isn't any good, but he's more serviceable than DP.

I know it's tough and I'm not really surprised. But he should get a look at his bank account and everything's gonna be fine...
