As much as I hate Torts, I'm okay with the Rags keeping him because a new coach will probably spark that team. Anyone that keeps them from winning is okay in my book, keep up the good work John!

I don't really see them canning him before the season's over. Though I think Torts is gone this Summer. I can see Lindy Ruff going there too.

I think it depends. If they miss the post-season I can see him getting canned. They get in though not sure. Ruff is going to be talked about in regards to every open coaching position this off-season.

Just read about Martin...Pitt's soft D just got a lot softer, which I can't believe I am saying considering how soft Martin has been for them since getting there, but he has been solid this year, it is actually a rather big loss for them.

When is Letang coming back? Without those two that D might be even worse then the one that gave up 30 goals in the 1st round. I know we are pretty down around here after two heartbreakers (and well understood) but I still think the East is very much up for grabs...sad thing it isn't because there are so many strong teams but so many weak ones.

I can see Ruff going to the Rangers out of most any other team really.

Rags getting Lindy Ruff would suck, he's a good coach who would actually help that team improve.

Please Sather, keep Torts! You need him!

I understand that Tortorella's act probably gets old as a player, but I really don't think he's the problem. They replaced Dubinsky, Anisimov, Prust, and Rupp with Nash, Powe, Asham, and Pyatt. That's clearly an upgrade offensively with Nash, but all four of those guys they lost are players who understood the system and played within it. Add to that certain players having bad seasons (Richards, Gaborik, Lundqvist, etc.) and you've got the recipe for an underwhelming season. Like the Devils, their issues are more with the way their roster is constructed and key players underperforming than it is the coaching.

Well to be fair I think the Devils problems right now are more injury related as I think Lou has addressed most of the issues with the roster itself since opening day. Just hasn't been able to play them all once this season.

Agree with you about the Rags. They lost to much in freeseason combined with the Nash deal. They may have been better off he they resigned some guys with Nash but they didn't. They never addressed their depth issues on D, and created depth issues on offense (Rags fans will crow all day about Kreider and Miller and how they are fine depth wise, but that is crap). They are a top heavy team that isn't even that heavy on top. Gaborik continues to be a disappointment over there (and one of the clowns on Hockey Night Life thinks he wants to be traded out by the deadline) and despite Nash's talent, he just doesn't fit in the system they want to run. He isn't the type of player you want in their "six goalie system" that they used very successfully last year.

They got real problems though as Torts needs to figure out what he wants. Get Sather to bring in the type of players he wants and needs to run his system, or adapt to the team he has. Right now pretty much nothing is working for them and they are (like so many teams right now) are being saved by the weak as hell east.

The Rangers' biggest issue this year is definitely Lundqvist, I think. Gaborik and Richards struggling just amplifies how heavily that team relies on elite goaltending to be competitive. Anisimov and Dubinsky are good players, but neither played a very big role under Tortorella and replacing them with Kreider and Miller realistically should have been okay when you consider they also added a player of Nash's caliber.

If Torts is the issue, its not because of the act with the media and all of that stuff. Just makes him more frustrating when they are losing. He's probably (part of) the problem because of the system he employs. He just handcuffs them offensively with everyone having to dive in front of pucks all over the defensive zone. Their real speed guys (particularly guys like Hagelin) don't get the chance to utilize that speed into the neutral/attacking zones as much as they should. And that's when the lack of depth/talent shows on the score sheet.

I think his other issue is just terrible man management in regards to the lines/ice time. I know he doesn't have a ton to work with on the depth side of things, but you can't roll 3 forward lines and 2 defensive pairings as heavily as he does on a near nightly basis. The mileage he put on his players was their downfall for much of the playoffs last year. And leaning on them as heavily as he is this year doesn't help either when the depth isn't there to relieve the pressure off the top.

And for what its worth, Lundqvist isn't making the impact he was last year. He's playing well, but he's not single-handedly winning games like he did last season. This ties into other players not having as good of a season as well, but it all adds up somewhere.

I still think it comes down to their depth. They don't have the quality middle 6 depth that they had last year. Their fourth line and bottom pairing were horrible last year too, but their middle 6 could pick up the slack. This year, they don't even have that.

Torts is not the problem with the Rangers. Sather is the one who revamped the team and destroyed any depth & heart they had. Now they're just soft and easy to play against. Gaborik and Richards are essentially high priced props. Plus, the Rangers are really missing that analytical PP quarterback at the point that controls the puck.

The main issue is trusting Brad Richards to be your first line center. Richards is not the type of player that should go up against tough competition and anchor your first line.

Holy **** that is pure awesome. I am still laughing so damn hard at that thing. Heatly's slow passing lane!!! No Brouder zone!!! Luo's twitter zone, and the Torts tantrum zone are great too. honestly there are gems all over the place.

Also Neutral Zone AKA Lemaire's domain cracked me up.

Feel horrible for Steve Mason...resigned in Philly today for a year...the kids confidence is shot as it is.

One of my fav goalies in the league and I truly believe in the right situation the kid can be a top 10 goalie in the league.

The Flyers are going to ruin any chance of that left.

As much as Steve Mason is better than his career stats indicate, there's no way he'd be a top 10 goalie on any team.

I said the same thing about Bryz when he got to Philly. I said the contract is kinda stupid, but they were finally getting a solid goalie. After rolling Boucher, Leighton, Biron, and Teriyaki for a few years. Bryz has been horrible there, but it's the defense for the most part. Bob was horrible in Philly, and is doing MUCH better on the frickin Blue Jackets. I have sympathy for Bryz cause I did like him in Phoenix, and he posted a 921 save percentage during Gretzky's pathetic coaching era. Poor guy has taken more **** than Luongo in a non Canadian market.
