Personally I'd want the Rangers to beat the Pens since we have a better shot against NYR. The Devils have to get up to the 6th seed to open up some playoff possibilities.

(Unless Boston stays 4 and MTL is 2nd... then 6/7 is okay)

Definitely let the Rags have the first crack at Pitt...may surprise everyone, but eventually we would have to go through the 1 or 2 seed and I much rather play Pitt then Boston. Their D is still weak as is MAF, and our style of play with a healthy roster gives them fits (I really thought Malkin was going to kill someone the last weekend we played them. We were in his head both games and I think our healthy roster today is better then when we beat the Pens twice (so is theres, but I think the point remains)

Boston just gives us fits no matter what.

Why are people obsessing over matchups when we're FAR from given to even make the playoffs in the first place? I still don't give a **** who we play, just make the playoffs please.

This right here. Considering our key departure and all of the injuries, I will consider it a nice accomplishment should they crack the top 8. I think the Devils should be a playoff team, but like you said, they're not a given. If they manage to get healthy at the right time, then the discussion changes entirely. For now though, hopefully they can qualify and possibly grab that 6th seed.

I think I might dislike the Pens more than the Flyers. seriously. I despise that franchise. Plus 1999 still pisses me off. Those were some of my first playoff memories and it was devastating. Then they have Martin (I want to win NOW!!!), and Neal who likes to take shots at our attendance.

oh i agree with you. it happened for me a while ago though....despise is a good word.....nauseating ********.

lets get the 7 or 8 seed and beat them

nobody out trolls the devils

That would be EPIC and the Pens Fans' tears would taste so delicious, too.

of course, getting the 6th seed and playing Winnipeg or whatever crappy team from the Southeast division would be preferable.

I didn't check HF this morning, and I didn't hear about the change in the Iginla trade until I texted my brother asking if the trade to Boston was official. He dropped the bomb on me.

What the actual ****, Feaster?! What a ****ing idiot that guy is. This is a Kovalchuk trade level hosing that Shero pulled on him.

Iggys market went to crap once he gave the 3 team list..once believed to be 4. The Better deal was with the Bruins for sure but out of respect for Iggy, Feaster dave Jerome final say.

It's even worse since they didn't get a roster player back. Just two unsigned college guys that honestly might never make the roster. Atlanta at least turned Oduya into assets.

There was nothing Feaster could do about it. He's a bad GM, but this one is hardly on him.

I think it was kind of a dick move by Iginla honestly. If you request a trade and give a four team list (already tying your GM's hands a bit), then when your GM accepts a deal from one of those teams, you can't just turn around and say no, I only want Pittsburgh. Heatley got torched for requesting a trade and then using his NTC to kill a trade to Edmonton. I'd say this is on par with that. Iginla gave a list but apparently didn't mean it.

That said, Feaster is still a moron. If Lou was selling a player like this, it wouldn't be this public. He'd have more leverage because he wouldn't tell everyone that the player only wants to go to a couple teams. This is the same thing that sank Howson and Waddell before. Don't make it public when your franchise player wants out, all you're doing is killing the market for him.

Fleury has won a Stanley Cup before. He's not the problem. The soft defense is the problem.

I honestly think we would be a first round nightmare for them.

Marty can go invincible on any given night, we're smart and disciplined while they're hotheaded and reactionary, their goaltending is a joke and we've got very opportunistic scorers, and DeBoer is a much smarter coach than Bylsma.

Hopefully our lineup will be healthy by then and we can finally go back to rolling other teams with our relentless forecheck.

I'm still terrified of Boston, Pittsburgh would be challenging but I honestly believe we beat them.

The Penguins are the best overall team in the East, but there's a lot of East teams that will give them problems in a series.

Any team that plays a physical, defensive minded game can beat them in a series. I think the Rangers would be their worst matchup of all the 5-10 seeds right now. And if the season ended today, that's who they would face.

The worst part about the Iggy trade is that the most valuable asset is the Pens 1st round pick... but the Flames are just brutal at drafting and mentoring their prospects the right way.

I really, really, really feel sorry for anyone who's a Flames fan, I really do.

Same here. Their team used to be good, and then horrible management took their Cup window and slammed it shut.

They're going to be a top team in this league until that guy retires, I've accepted it now

And then when he does retire, they'll just tank for a few more years and pick up the Next Next One.

Ya but it doesn't seem to be the same MAF that won that cup though...bigger problem is that soft D though.

I think us and the Rags would really be a nightmare match up for them as well. The problem for us would be health more then anything. Why I think if they have to play us they would prefer it be in the 1st round. 2nd or 3rd round matchup means we are rolling and healthy and that can be deadly. Everyone back in and rolling Pete's system we give them fits all day. Rags could too, Lundy can stand on his head if needed if nothing else and Pitt is in huge trouble if they get stoned as MAF and that D is not going to be able to do dueling shutout games. Torts could screw it all up though because he loses his mind when something goes wrong. He just starts merry-go-rounding his lines into oblivion. Just as easily as I can see the Rags winning that series, I can also see them just imploding.
