Washington blew a 3-1 lead in the third and lost in OT.

NJ sweeps the Panthers, so those who are still bemoaning that blown lead need to acknowledge how good they are . . .

So Connor McMichael now is one goal away from the league lead, and was picked two spots after Holmstrom. He was one of the “safe” picks while Holmstrom was off board.

We had posters on this board as recently as last season breathing a sigh of relief that we didn’t pick him.

Probably good chance if the isles picked him, he wouldn't be putting up those numbers on the islanders lol

IDK if it was "breathing a sigh of relief" as much as pointing out that the drumbeat of how bad a pick Holmstrom was and how we should have picked Tomasino or McMichael got relatively quiet. But it's back! Let's check back in a year or two. Of course, maybe we would've taken Tomasino and everyone would have been excited about the pick, and he's trending towards being a waiver guy these days. It's a crapshoot.

Nashville forum says Tomasino was given the 'make one mistake and get buried treatment' by Brunette

Not this poster, I’m on record of wanting to pick McMichael . It seemed to be a no brainer at the time, the organization was in desperate need of centers and McMichael was there and he was a London product, and all they do is turnout NHL talent consistently. To say I was surprised with the pick is an understatement. All that being said it appears that Holmstom is finding his way but give me a center of equal ability every day of the week over a winger.

Sorry! Typing on the phone makes me less accurate . . .

Perhaps a number of The Atlantic authors type on their phones as well...

Always liked several of the players taken after Holmstrom in his draft, McMichael being one of them. Admittedly, I thought Pelletier might have been the guy (fits into that Parise mould) and even if I wasn't sold on him, I knew it may very well have been possible that Kaliyev would become a goal-getter.

Looked like it was gonna turn out that way too.

Alas, we're still finding out about a lot of those guys taken 16-35 in that draft.

I guess Harley, Pinto, and Newhook have been about the best.
