[Championat] Josh Ho-Sang set to sign with Salavat Yulaev (KHL)
At a time when the value of Russian money is plummeting Ho-Sang goes to the KHL.

I asked this yesterday, is the KHL really a viable league given the circumstances with Russia and Ukraine? North American players flocked out season when tensions ignited between the two countries.

Unfortunately the Ruble bounced mostly back because of the demand and high price of oil and gas and the continued sale of oil-based products to China, India and other non-NATO countries. It won't last however; a majority of the sanctions haven't fully kicked in yet and Russia is manipulating it's market a bit to keep things solvent for now.

I am surprised NA players are still going there, shameful.

Lol, so when he probably should have gone to the KHL a couple years ago, he doesn't, now when he should absolutely NOT play in Russia, he heads over. If there were any ever questions about JHS being a fool, the definitive answer is in.

I don't know if Canadians would/are/will be targeted the same way Americans are, so he might have that going for him.

I try not to judge people for trying to make a living. May not my first choice or yours to go over there, but I don’t think it’s shameful since these guys have very finite careers and finite opportunities.

Not trying to call you out, just saying I get why guys would go despite the global situation (which, let’s be honest, many simply don’t care about).

They are still chasing their dream, even if you and I think it’s a nightmare over there.

Complete goaltending overhaul in Washington.

Wow, I know Samsonov has had some unfortunate injuries and uneven performances, but it is surprising that they opted to open up two holes in net.

Especially in a year where goaltending is at a premium and teams are scrambling.

And, for all of the issues, Samsonov manages to win games (52-22-8 career numbers), even if the stat line isn't pretty.

For a backup goalie, if they can win 2-3 times more than they lose, that should be acceptable.

Would you be interested in him as a backup NYI needed to trade Varlamov to clear cap?

If it came to that, as the only way to clear appropriate cap space for an upgrade at forward, I could live with it.

But Samsonov's medicals would need to check out and, perhaps most important, Korn and Greco would need to sign off.

If they believed they could elevate Samsonov's game, it could be a way to secure the crease for years with Sorokin-Samsanov.

But, given the lack of quality goalies right now, you have to think that some team, maybe Toronto, will overpay in either AAV or term.

The Capitals goaltending department has been lacking since Trotz and Korn left. The proof has been in the pudding. Now it looks like they'll be putting games in the hands of Darcy Kuemper and Jack Campbell. 🤮

I'd sign Samsonov to a 2 way or a 1 way at $1M and keep him in Bridgeport until he's needed. If Sorokin handles the starters share, I'd look to move Varlamov at the TDL.

Let's hope that the Caps, Flyers and Devils continue to make the wrong choices in net, forever.
