Well at least Coglan is rotating in for Pesce.

As much as we may need a defensive dman for that third pair, Waddell has to be looking for a healthy version of Gardiner for a second pp guy. I’m fine with Sjkei not getting a pp spot as I don’t think he’s a great possession offensive dman. He’s a great skater and good off the rush, pushing the play. Different skill set to be the pp point guy.

I always thought your cap hit for a mid season acquisition was the prorated amount of their remaining salary this season, but I gave up on cap maths awhile ago since others around here are much better at it.

It does not. The daily cap is fixed; a $4 mil player costs ~$21.5k per on Day 1 and Day 186. If there's nothing banked, there's nothing to cover the daily overage.

The cap isn't too much of an issue with retention/double retention. It's the expectation, not a selling point nowadays. Contenders build close to the cap with the assumption that they will have that option available to them.

Doing a quick calculation, they could acquire up to a ~$4.74 mil defender (via 50% retention) at full health by sending Kochetkov down and Coghlan out, for example.

For those into the stats: are you able to search for a players stats in the last “x” amount of games? I know some sites will show the last 10 but if I wanted to go further back is that an option? For example I was curious about Skjei’s last 82 games.
