Probably a little premature

I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere

Rod doesn't want to mess with the streaking lineup and just knows this thing isn't ending anytime soon but can't just come out and say it. Could it end within 10 games? Maybe. Probably not. Patches may be lucky to get in by April at the current rate.
Ehh by that logic Aho would’ve been kept out too, went 7-0 without him. If Patches were completely ready to go he’d be playing tomorrow. He’s already way ahead of schedule so just slowly ramping him up and getting him back into game shape. I don’t think our streak has anything to do with his status.

Seemed pretty obvious I wasn't serious when I said it was unlikely he'd play until April because we'd still be streaking, but here we are.

We’ve been hoping for awhile he’ll get a shot, but we don’t know why Stastny missed practice. Probably a little premature to celebrate.

And if somehow this is for real and Stastny is out, I’d take Aho-KK-Staal-Stepan down the middle and stack the wings before I mess with the good thing that is Necas at wing right now.

If Necas can become the 2C and can become successful with it, it turns a small question mark (I say small because, well, look at our record) into a significant strength. A center lineup of Aho-Necas-Staal-KK immediately becomes best in the league-level deep and makes for a seamless succession plan for KK to become the next Jordan Staal some day.

Folks, I keep saying it, this Brind’Amour guy knows what’s up.

Problem with that is, if things are going well most of the regular season and you don't try different things, you have no plan when things go wrong in the playoffs potentially. I think we ran into some of that last year.

And if Necas is that fragile, he's probably not gonna keep this up anyway. And I say that as someone that isn't convinced he will be any good at center.

It doesn't really upset me or anything, but when you know you're gonna make it, you might as well use the regular season as your sandbox to test things occasionally, in my opinion.

IIRC Aho worked on transitioning to Center over an entire offseason. Maybe two. Like a Brind'Amour side mission.

If Necas is moving to Center is will be similar.

Brind'Amour is not a sandbox type of coach. He has his gameplan and the team uses the regular season to sharpen that plan to a fine point.

Aho became a C the first season Brind'Amour was a coach so it wasn't likely two off-seasons. I get that he was an assistant before that, but Brindy came right out and said Peters was calling the shots and it wasn't until the end of Peter's last season where Aho got about 10 games at C. I do agree they went into that off-season assuming he'd be a C.

Brindy really didn't have an option but to play Aho at C though. With Lindholm traded, Ryan not re-signed and Rask cutting his hand prior to the season, the only C the Canes had on the roster with significant NHL experience was Jordan Staal.

In case anyone was wondering why CardiacCane would put out such a terrible article and of it was because of a desperate cry for attention by a site nobody wants to write for.....
