Canes lead the replies but lots of write-in votes for Hendrick Motor Sports.

Good for the Carolinians. No need to let NBC, a commercial broadcaster with their own cow in the ditch, to imply-dictate what classifies as sports and sports spectating consumption.

Its not a competition among that group. Panthers and Hornets have been so incompetently run for so long that our last 5 years easily makes us better. Charlotte FC is far too new. Courage would be the only contender in that group.

My son pointed out that the Durham Bulls have experienced more success as well and may have better brand recognition than some of them.

I would hazard to guess that's pretty much a given.

Chatfield says hello. He's definitely a young guy that Rod has giving a lot of trust and time this year, and it has payed off really well.
While it doesn’t hurt your point as Chat is inexperienced he ain’t exactly young. He’s two years younger than Pesce and a year older than Aho.

And didn't the courage win their titles in a completely different league and era? The franchise that won those titles isn't the team that exists now, they were just allowed to use the name and likeness.

The current NWSL team did win it all twice. They were in Western New York first, and that team won a championship before relocating. Also, the original Courage were in a different women's soccer league and did win a championship apparently.

I admit, I had to google it.

you think if I respond to their experience questions, I say I can google an answer for anything with the best of them. You think that would win them over?
I applied with "Proficient in Google-fu and ChatGPT" as the first and only bullet point on my resume.

Feeling confident enough that I'm already requesting a $1,000,000+ salary but will settle with the player ELC equivalent.

Friedman has heard that Tlusky has made it to Round 2 in Pittsburgh.

...

It's funny how much of a black box management is. These folks are evaluated publicly on correlation with success, with a bias towards the unknown. Pens fans don't want Chayka. Chayka was the young, analytically-minded GM 7 years ago. Look at his reputation now. Donny Turtleneck still had the Atlanta stink on him when he took over the job 5 years ago. Look at his reputation now.

We don't know shit, quite frankly.

The Carolina Hurricanes announce the promotion of Eric Tulsky to General Manager of the team. When asked why he elected to stay with the Hurricanes over the soon to be rebuilding Pittsburgh Steele....er Penguins, Tulsky stated matter of factly, "Who the f*** wants to go to Pittsburgh, f***in' yinzers."

It would be very interesting to see what Tlusky would do with the Penguins if he had a more traditional level of control of a franchise and his analytical background. Would he look at the core and blow it up to jumpstart a rebuild with all of the assets he could get for the big three? Would his hands be tied? It would be fun to watch.

If Tulsky moves on, it'd be a bummer, but he seems to have built up a pretty good department. I'd imagine they can continue with those types of processes. Based on what he's said he does versus what people have given him credit for over the years, he's probably a bit overrated by our fans, but obviously valuable.

It'd be interesting to see him as a GM here or elsewhere. He doesn't scream GM type when I've heard his interviews, but he's obviously very smart at what he does and his role has been expanded over the years here to get a lot of experience.

The fact that he has been given permission to speak to multiple teams, kinda tells me that Dundon thinks he is replaceable, which doesn't shock me because I'm sure he has built up a pretty good team and department there over the years. You just hope his team doesn't follow him if he goes somewhere else. Donny Turtlenecks is also getting up there in age, and one would think if Dundon wanted Tlusky to be the next GM, his name wouldnt be out there every time a GM position opens up elsewhere.

I'm not convinced he would necessarily be a good GM, given he isn't part of the good ole boys network that very much seems to still be a thing in the NHL. He just seems like a nerd and we know how jocks like to treat nerds.

Dundon has been very public about wanting (or at least being ok with) his employees to interview for other jobs though

And he’s probably right to have that approach. Imagine your boss blocking you from the opportunity to get a big time role at another company. It’s more likely than not to ensure that you actively try to leave ASAP.

Pretty sure we have to let him interview for GM jobs with it being a promotion. Haven't heard of him interviewing for any assistant GM or other lesser jobs. I wouldn't read too much into that. I do think we believe he is replaceable out of necessity (i.e. if he wants to be a GM and we are keeping Waddell there as we probably should) but I don't think we'll easily let him go if we have anything we can realistically do about it.
