Difference between our Kings and the Ducks.
LA gets Sekera, Gabby takes him in his home.
The Mighty Ducks get Sekac, he checks into a hotel room.
Says it all to me.

(Per the agent who represents them both, who was on XM radio yesterday)

I like Detroit, so this is not to knock on them, but this made me a little sad:

Many players celebrate [Thanksgiving] with one another, but defenseman Xavier Ouellet had no plans at all. "I'll just be in my hotel room, by myself," he said. He's the French-born Canadian, and he's stuck in a hotel room because he was just called up from Grand Rapids last week.

Where did Cam Fowler stay when he broke in??

Exactly. wgas where Sekac is staying? It's no indication that the Kings are just better guys cuz their sweaters are black.

It means that the Kings are a close knit group and that players feel like family.

Cam Fowler lived with Scott Niedermayer, who wasn't even playing with the club anymore, so I'd assume it's pretty dense to think the Kings are any better for it. Fwiw, I think both clubs are tight knit, have good captains, and good locker rooms.

First-round draftee about to be with the team for a long time vs. trade deadline deal is totally comparable. Im pretty sure that's the point, that the deadline acquisitions the Kings have made over the years have immediately been welcomed into current players' homes with open arms. That's a good picture being painted by the Kings.

I agree. I just think it's like an oompa loompa reaching for a lever at the chocolate factory to try to use it to paint a bad picture of the Ducks group.

I think your wrong. The Ducks could have easily had Sekac room with a veteran right away while he got acclimated. Nothing mighty about the way they dealt with him, nothing mighty at all.

The Ducks playoffs performance does that just fine

I can see why you read it that way, but to me it was written to be more of an uplift of the Kings org than a bash on the Ducks. Sekac is far from the only dude to sit in a hotel after a trade, but the Kings go out of their way to make people feel welcome immediately. Doesn't mean the Ducks are heartless animals or anything like that, it could even just signal that the Kings involve their players more when asking questions (Gaborik pointed out that Futa et. al. had conversations w/him before pulling the trigger on the trade) and thus they're more aware of things happening before they're happening; to us, it's just another good signal of how close these guys are, they walk the walk.

I agree with all you say. I'll just guess the Ducks got dragged into this because of the freeway face-off tonight.

Ya, going to game seven with you guys with fledgling net minders is a clear indication the Ducks locker room is a mess??

You left out having way more trouble than you should have with Dallas and losing in the first round the last two times the Ducks made the playoffs before that.

So far off topic and ridiculous I'm not even going any further with this. May the team with the better hospitality get the win tonight and go on to win the cup.

I'll translate that as you were painted in a corner.

Ok, if we have to take this further, I don't see the Ducks having a 10 point lead(minus 1 game in hand for VAN) after a losing streak as an indication there is any problem in the locker room. The fact if the Kings lose in regulation tonight they are again on the outside after an 8 game winning streak that they would probably have more issues. I hope the Kings make the playoffs, cuz I want the best teams in there, but they've had their ups and downs, too. No question.

I never said the Ducks had a problem in the locker room. That is something that you conjured up all by yourself.

Ok, omit "locker room", and insert "group", because that's what was discussed in post 13. Semantics, imo

I disagree again. What was being discussed is how the Ducks as an org/group dropped the ball (in our opinion) by letting a newly acquired player sit in a hotel room instead of simply bringing him into one of the players homes. It does say something but that is open for debate.

I said the Ducks suck in the playoffs. You said they had a locker room problem.
You call it semantics, I see it as you have a Freudian slip

Oh, ok. Well, I had no idea you were just interjecting that into a discussion everyone else was having about something else. Maybe we could make a separate thread for that next time, or just find one of the old ones?

or you could keep up...
