Kings Article: Newly-Acquired Defenseman Andrej Sekera Sounds Like He’ll Fit Right In With LA Kings

I disagree again. What was being discussed is how the Ducks as an org/group dropped the ball (in our opinion) by letting a newly acquired player sit in a hotel room instead of simply bringing him into one of the players homes. It does say something but that is open for debate.

I really have no insight into offers for Sekac's accommodations, so I won't comment on them. For all I know he is quite comfortable with them. This is purely speculation based, and as Brad Doty pointed out completely overblown.

If I wanted to bash the Ducks all I would have to point out was how the Kings handled the non goal call last night. All I saw was Williams saying ("come on!") to the ref and it pretty much ended right there and they went back to work.
I was watching a Mighty Ducks game a few weeks ago and I think something similar happened to the Mighty Ducks toward the end of a period. Getzlaf went into a full tantrum that would embarrass a 3 year old. He was yelling at the refs and threw his stick into the bench. He ended getting an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

When's the last time you saw Dustin Brown trying to show up a ref?
Now I'm sure you'll bring up Doughty and his outbursts, but he's smart enough to know when to stop.
Don't even need to bring up the announce crew.

Difference between our Kings and the Ducks.
LA gets Sekera, Gabby takes him in his home.
The Mighty Ducks get Sekac, he checks into a hotel room.
Says it all to me.

(Per the agent who represents them both, who was on XM radio yesterday)

Right now Sekera is in a hotel room just like Sekac... He might stay with gabby in the road, and move in soon.

I hate the ducks but I don't think this reflects anything.

Kings are probably the closest team in the league. I think it does say a lot.

What do you mean by it?

I don't disagree with kings being a tight knit group... But saying sekac is stuck in a hotel reflecting the ducks locker room is faulty considering Sekera is in a hotel as well.

We just know that Gabby said he take him in....we don't know if one of the ducks are going to do the same

Only thing I'm arguing is they both are in hotels right now so I can't see how anyone can make assumptions on the culture based on that premise.

Edit.....I hate you all for making me argue for the ducks..

I can't believe this petty bickering over which locker room is closer. Sekera stayed in a hotel room his first night too. If Sekac continues to play like he did against Ottawa, I'm sure some Duck teammate will take him in too.

My feeling is if you want to argue something substantive with the Ducks, it would have to be playoff success. The Ducks have to prove that they can get it done in the playoffs too. So far, this squad hasn't got it done (and don't bring up that Perry and Getzlaf were on the 2007 championship team; that's ancient history and two surviving players eight years later doesn't comprise a "squad").

Wow...what a bunch of ridiculous garbage...

Sekera himself confirmed, as I reported in the story linked, that he was in a hotel room that first night here. Might've been more than one night. I'm sure he'll be staying with Gaborik for awhile. I didn't speak to his agent or Gaborik, but it makes sense.

Doesn't say a thing about the Kings that we didn't already know, and it certainly has no relevance to other clubs.

Meh, I stand by what I said. Kings always struck me as one of the closest, if not the closest, teams in the league. How many times do you see the Kings meltdown like the Ducks do? There's a certain maturity with this group that allows them to never go through crests and troughs. Never too high, and never too low. Gaborik mentioned how impressed he was last season when he arrived.

There's no question about that. I think the issue is that what Sekera did upon arrival here, as well as what his new teammates did or didn't do, has no direct bearing on other teams and what they may or may not have done. Each situation, each circumstance, is different. You're making assumptions and generalizations that aren't necessarily valid or accurate.
