Planning a trip out to Arizona for spring break with the fam and it just so happens the Rangers play the Coyotes the week we will be there.

Was excited to grab some cheap seats near the glass because the Coyotes stink, but then quickly realized their new arena has only 5,000 seats and there are no seats less than $200 ea. I'm gonna plan the game into the itinerary and see if we can grab some last minute seats if the price falls significantly.

What a shit show that franchise is.

$100+ for seats in the 400s on a Tuesday is just asinine!
4 tickets in the last row of section 415, against the Coyotes on a Monday night is $633.60 on ticketmaster.

How in the hell do you bring a family to a game these days?

Add gas, tolls, parking, a cheap dinner, a drink each and a popcorn at the game and you are in the $800-900 range. Add any apparel and you are pushing a grand for the night.

All for shit seats against a shit team on a weeknight.

You could go away for a short weekend trip somewhere instead. It's absurd.

That's dynamic pricing for the home opener.

My season tickets are in the high row uppers on the blue line and the cost for this game is $83.50 ($334 for 4). I will probably wind up having to sell these and a lot of other games this season (plus my pair for the knicks). I just haven't gotten around to it (too many hours in diablo 4).

Didnt realize it was the home opener. Thanks for pointing that out

Picked a few other weekday games in the same section/seats and it was $550-600 for the 4 tickets alone.

Still absurd to me.

I mean the same could be said for Broadway shows and other events in Manhattan - I mean, hell - it costs 200$ for 2 people to go into an escape room and $100+ for a family of 4 to see a movie. Its gotten out of control. But people pay...

If you go to the las vegas strip most table games have $25 minimums with the occasional $15 when pre-pandemic the minimums were $10 with the occasional $5. As long as the tables are full the limits aren't going back.

Broadway shows have been expensive for a while (at least the popular shows). The credit card companies started paying for bunches of tickets and tiering them into platinum gold diamond etc "experiences". You get to eat a bag lunch with a roadie and get your ticket laminated.

Hi there! Just a quick question about a ticket I bought for opening night:

I bought a lower bowl ticket for the home opener on 10/16 off of SeatGeek on 7/31 for a little over $250. Got an email from SeatGeek saying my ticket was "confirmed", then an email that my ticket was ready and a link to claim it, which I did.

I see the ticket in my MSG app, but not in my Ticketmaster app (which I understand may be because it's a third party vendor). But what's worrying me is that my ticket for the home opener looks different than my tickets I have for other Rangers games. I bought tickets directly through Ticketmaster for the 12/3 game vs. SJS and the ticket preview is just the Rangers logo on a blue jersey background. For the home opener, the ticket preview has a Rangers logo "vs" and a Coyotes logo over a blue cityscape background. Also, my tickets for the 12/3 game both have barcodes, while my 10/16 ticket does not (it says "ticket will be ready in 59 day, 22 hour, etc.", which is what's throwing me off the most that it's there for one and not the other). I can also add the Sharks tickets to my Apple Wallet, but not the Coyotes ticket.

Should I be worried about this being a fake ticket? Is there a way to tell? Am I better off trying to cancel and buy directly from Ticketmaster? Just don't want to stress about it/show up at MSG on game day and end up flustered because my ticket isn't working. Anyway, any insight anyone has into this would be greatly appreciated! LGR!!

You have a season ticket holder ticket transferred to you. Those have a different background or image than the Ticketmaster ones. All plan tickets go through the MSG account manager exclusively and not your regular Ticketmaster account which is why it's only appearing in the MSG app. All barcodes for plan tickets won't show until 72 hours before game time. At that point, you can add to your wallet. Hope that helps.

Thank you, that makes sense! Definitely puts my mind at ease knowing I'll be all set. Now comes the hard part of waiting lol.

Thanks again!

Those seats will end up going for $100 each max; check TM at 6 pm that night.

Someone called it “dynamic pricing,” I call it “fantasy pricing.” I’m not sure if TM or MSG establishes a pricing floor months out, but trust me - within 7 days of game day that target price will drop like a stone. And then it’s up to the ticket holder to be paying attention and “make to market” or else eat the loss.

(For reference You can see later in this thread someone is offering a seat in the lower bowl for $275 - about a million rows lower than what you found for around $160 each.)

I would recommend never buying from stubhub or Ticketmaster. Join Facebook groups where the seller and the buyer avoid fees. I set the price for my tickets at whatever the cheapest price is going for on those exchanges in the same section (fees included).

Yeah, i never buy off of those sites. I always buy from HF.

Just generalizing for the average fan. If you want to grow the game (not to mention more Rangers fans) you gotta get kids in the building at the grassroots level and that experience is being priced out in this greater metro area. They'll wind up going to Newark because its cheaper.

Agreed. The only way for me to afford to take my 3 kids to any games each year is by coming up with the thousands it costs for season tix and then subsidizing the cost by selling many of those tickets throughout the year. I also will often sell my 2 ranger-islander tickets at msg to then take all my kids to UBS and have money left over.
