Hey boys, can anyone provide an out-of-stater ticket buying advice? I've never bought playoff tickets before.

I live in COL, and if you-know-what happens, I want to go to at least 1 game. When is the best time to buy tickets? I'm looking at the cheapest available for tentative Games 1 and 2 being $1000 a pop on ticketmaster. Is there a good site to use?

No one really knows what the market for a potential Stanley Cup Finals might look like. The only thing I know for certain is there won’t be any bargains. People who have a spare single or pair are not going to part with it for face value. Thousand of out of towners, such as yourself, will drive demand higher. If I was looking to go I would buy as close to puck drop the day of on Stubhub. There might be a ticket or two from someone who can’t make it last minute. But you won’t be the only one looking and my guess is you’ll still pay a premium.

The get-in price will likley be at least $1000 +ticketdisaster/stub hub fees. The face on mine for the finals is $515 each and I think I am in the 3rd or 4th lowest price point. Upper 200 centers.

You'll probably get the best price on here from STH. If we make it, I'm going to sell game 1, but my price point is also $515. We take a lot of hits during the regular season and seasons like this are a gift since they allow us to actually make some money back. I always try to charge below stubhub prices and never include fees, but for this game it's obviously still going to be a markup.

I haven't run the numbers yet, because I'm assuming peak prices will be night we clinch, but my guess is I'll be looking for 900$+ per ticket.

If McJesus can perform a miracle home game 1 will be at the ECF winner but otherwise game 1 is going to be in Colorado. So there are a lot of ifs that will determine the price of the SCF tickets, if the rangers are even part of it..

At this point after being at both Game 7 wins, my little bit of 'stitious I have in me, I'm going to be looking to go Game 7 if we make it. I generally like to sit mid-lower in the 200's but I'll be looking I'd say.

Has anyone done the general admission tickets at some point this post season? Are they assigning you a place to stand ? Or can you pretty much go to any of the bar rails/open spots?

Appreciate everyone who answered my question. To those who thought I was an "out-of-stater" driving NY prices up, I should have made clearer that I was looking to go to a game in Denver if it was COL-NYR in the finals and was just asking in general how to get a decent deal.

I wouldn't take it as a bad thing. Every person in NYC and around would want to attend the finals if we make it. Even now you see celebrities there who never go during the regular season. It's a status symbol. While of course there are real fans who are also purchasing tickets because the games are so special, the issue is more that even people who don't know what the blue line means want to attend at this point.
