Nash with that bad gas.

RP, you're the man.

I wonder when Lombardi realizes he needs to cut his losses and swallow his pride and get rid of the guy?

Not that I'm faulting him for any misfortunes, but his inability to perform isn't helping things and is handcuffing his coaching staff.

It has to be apparent to Dean as watches him play 9-12 minutes of horrible hockey that he really made a mistake last summer.

The sad thing is, other NHL teams have pro scouts, they are seeing the same thing. I think the best the Kings can hope for is a swap with another team trying to unload a bad contract. You know both teams just hoping that a change of scenery might fix things, either that or the Kings may have to go the route of a traditional buy-out, I think at this point the dead space is going to be better than having this guy in the lineup at almost $6.

You have to be realistic about these things, how many top 4 defensemen are available to trade for right now? Maybe one or two at the most? Are they even a good fit? And the price is gonna be outrageous, you just know the first thing they're asking for is Pearson or Toffoli.

Whatever, lost to an eastern conference team. At least we didn't give up any points to a team that matters to us and the Sharks/Wild/Jets/Nucks all lost tonight too. But it's hard to be optimistic when we have 5 wins in our last 15 games. Wow. But as always, just gotta stick with it and hope they turn it around soon.

Wow, only 5 wins in the last 15... I didn't know it was that bad:cry::shakehead

The price will be high but let's be real, Schultz and Mcbain aren't here for the long term. We would be better off playing Mcnabb and calling up an AHLer or two since at least they're in the long term plans. You could chalk a playoff exit up to youthful gains at least. Getting nowhere rolling out Schultz and Mcbain nightly. Or greene right now for that matter. But he's miscast like Derek Armstrong right now, has no business playing that much

Alex Curry with the hard hitting questions.

So Kopi, you pretty much sucked *** the first 25 games of the season, got hot for a bit, are you back to sucking *** again now?

Do you think the Kings can win another cup this season with you playing like this?

I think I could work in Toronto, eh?

I really don't understand what he's done to not get playing time or to be a healthy scratch. If I'm Sutter, I'm sending a message. Bench Mike Richards and give Andreoff a shot. What do you have to lose?

He had a shakey game before the roadtrip, Sutter had him sit for one game and now is in love once again with his vets especially Schultz. Hes been equally bad, at least McNabb has an upside and could pass the puck without shooting it into someones skate.

Evidence? Among Kings' forwards, only Kyle Clifford played less tonight.

He's still out there on the PK (wasn't that brutal tonight to be honest). This time for an extended period. If it wasn't for his penalty he would have been out longer. IIRC I saw his line out against Nash's in the D zone for a draw. I don't think Sutter is mean enough to bench anyone. There are guys like Quennville that will do that but I just think Sutter is too much of a player's coach.

Is this the new standard?

Wow, impressive.

I'm not too sure what you mean but you asked for some evidence so there you go. Playing time not bad. 1st line against 4th line. And I also remember Richards had a good play on the PK where he got an offensive zone FO.

Did you mean I was lying? I'm not defending Richards either.

Sutter calling out Muzzin for refusing to check.

...and what did Sutter say? Muzzin's minutes were cut because he refused to check. You don't get to play based on what you have done in the past.

This statement applies to another player on the Kings, but with more frequency and some just refuse to see it.

Sutter calling out Muzzin for refusing to check.

I am happy that Sutter is ripping players in the media, but honestly he has been doing that for weeks now and the results haven't changed.

Still think we need either a trade or at the very least someone noteable to sit for a game or two. Scratching and rotating out McNabb, McBain, Schultz, Nolan and Andreoff isn't going to send the message to the players.

Yes.

We can add it to what was told to me earlier in the thread..

"He hasn't been out there for a goal against tonight"

Yeah, because he was sitting in the penalty box and Sutter pretty much gave him Kyle Clifford minutes during the game.

But hey, he had one shift on the PK and was out there for a draw in the d-zone against Nash, so obviously Sutter still has all the confidence in the world in Richards.

@andrewleafman: Kings rocking the .856 SV% over their last month, dead last in the NHL by a lot. That's the source of all their woes.

Yep. The defense, Quick, and Jones have not been good enough.

I mean, you asked for evidence. No need for this kind of response. It kills discussion.

I asked for evidence. My response indicates that I was not impressed with the other poster's evidence. That poster is welcome to present more evidence if they have some.

I don't see how you can look at the game and Richards' performance in the proper context when he lost his check yet again in his own zone leading to a golden opportunity for St. Louis, then he takes a penalty which puts the NYR on the PP for their first goal. After that Sutter had seen enough and played Richards very limited minutes. It doesn't impress me at all that 30 seconds of that time was on one PK, and that one of his shifts started in his own zone against Nash's line.
