Nash's offensive results really has been a disappointment.

Here's what we're left with if Nash continues without much production.

An offense that can score 2 goals a game without a PP goal.

An LA team that can score 3 goals a game on NY.

Thus, a relatively short series without Nash.

So the Rangers were outshot by the widest margin in the history of the sport in the 3rd period (in the Final) and that team didn't manage to score and the logical conclusion is that our goalie was outplayed?

Okay.
Just another day in spoiled Rangers land.

Here's the trick to having a legit team: your goalie doesn't have to be the best player on the ice every game. We've seen some of that in this playoffs, but not nearly enough. Other supposed team anchors aren't contributing enough.

The get out of jail free card with Nash is ridic at this point.

Yeah he was engaged and played a decent game but he's supposed to do that... and he's supposed to score/create.

I'm not going to praise him for effort. That should be a given, ESPECIALLY in the ****ing Stanley Cup Final.

If Nash was a big part of us beating Montreal or Pitt, it would be much easier to tolerate a game like last night. Unfortunately he's lost the benefit of the doubt so a good effort game is no longer good enough. He has to figure out a way to score goals, or even create them through passing.

Your best players MUST be your best players.

I'm getting pissed by the hour...I really wanted that win. I dont know what this means in Game 2 and how LA will play.

The Rangers I hope really dial-in on what they have to do.

My goodness those boards and that ice was worse then the MSG ice. Rangers have got to get the cycle play going so they tire out the Kings on the forecheck...Rangers need to be aggressive on that.

Im just upset we lost on a turnover on a valiant effort from Hank and being up 2-0...It sucks because the team I KNOW FOR SURE read the scouting report on Quick and shot glove hand on him...he had been letting in alot of goals up high on pads and glove...The two saves on Marty and that 3rd period save sucks...DAMN IT

Rangers have to play better

So you tell us to stop with the "you don't know what you're talking about" but it's ok for you to respond to a post of mine with "you're clearly wrong." And just leave it at that.

Unreal dude.

Okay, the prevailing sentiment is that Hank was unreal last night. He made 20 stops in the third.

Would some one point out the big saves he made? Shots on goal do not equal scoring chances.

A previous poster listed examples, but most of those listed were routine. One of the ones listed was not even a shot on goal.

Were the goals Hank let in terrible...no, not terrible, but not great either (not going to debate why again). So, we stomp on a bunch of other players for not being their best, but Hank gets a pass...as usual.

That's fine, but I expect him to be better. Shame on me.

Not sure where the Hank blame comes from, he had it easy for the first 2 periods outside of the goals against, and you know he wishes he had that 2nd goal back. He was rock solid in the 3rd even though I felt the Kings mostly threw crap at him hoping for rebounds and such. Rangers had like 50 minutes to score a 3rd goal and they failed him.

Problem was outside of Hagelins breakaways and Poos breakaway Quick had a easy night, especially outside of the 1st. The open looks we had otherwise were fans and missed shots.

Hey, what do you know, a voice of reason.

Hank was not to blame, nor was he blameless, for last night's loss.

More of the blame goes to not putting the game away when we had the opportunity. Some of it was Quick making big saves and some was the team not finishing.

At the end of the day, they still had a chance to win it in OT, until that speed bump popped up behind Girardi.

So it sounds like everybody is saying the 1st period was all the Kings playing bad and had nothing to do with the way the Rangers were playing... 2nd and 3rd was all the Kings being better and had nothing to do with any mistakes the Rangers were making..

Hagelin's quote about shooting low on Quick is so ****ing true. Been saying it forever. The dude kicks out rebounds, and his D and back-checking forwards are very good at clearing the garbage. They are not perfect, though.

We need to adjust. I remember specifically on one of the PPs Quick kicked out a rebound to his left circle. MSL was there, but he was at the spot a goalie who plays deeper in his net would kick that rebound too. Instead of being at the bottom of the circle nearest to quick, we should be hovering around the faceoff dot. That's prime rebound real estate on this goalie.

Shoot low, and do a good job not only crashing the net and causing mayhem, but also STOPPING in front of the net a little earlier than normal.

Quick is very beatable.

How about complaining about AV? He wasn't good last night.

I agree with this.

I thought that the Kings made some adjustments... they clogged the neutral zone and when that happens, those stretch/home run passes aren't going to work out.

AV should have had them staying in our own zone, and working the puck out together. This was no more evident than on the OT goal where G was completely alone with the puck in our zone... everyone else bolted and when he coughed it up, the game was over.

AV: "For 40 minutes we went head to head with them. When they had a push, we had one guy that had a big push." He's talking about Lundqvist.

“@AGrossRecord: AV says not enough Rangers brought A game in game 1. Mentions Lundqvist did otherwise won't name names.”

It was infuriating especially considering the Rangers haven't played that way all season. There was times when the Rangers had two dmen back on the regroup with minimal pressure and they still couldn't get the puck through the neutral zone.

As the game went on the Rangers got away from their speed game. You could see it happening. Kreider heading hard to the net pulls up to make a play to Nash--a good 15 ft. behind him away and it killed the play. Nash did the same--heading towards the net he pulls up to cut towards the crease but Willie Mitchell catches up with him. Both instances the player should have gone hard to the net. It may have meant nothing but it may have resulted in a good shot or a Kings penalty.

I thought McDonagh, Stralman, Pouliot, and Hagelin brought their best (besides Hank). That's not nearly enough.

4th line was excellent as well. They had Kopitar and co. on defense for several of their shifts. They got burned on the Doughty goal, but that was just a great play by a great player (and a save I'd like to see Hank make).

I think this is part of what's really disconcerting here - last night seemed like just another Kings playoff game, many of which have been remarkably similar to last night. Just plug in different uniforms for their opposition.

We need to break that mold - turn 2-0 into 3-0, hold onto 2-0 and shut them out, take the play to them in the third period instead of vice versa - something.

Otherwise we are just another opponent fitting into the Kings formula for winning.

But that's more applicable to basketball with the distinct home court advantage. Home ice doesn't translate to dominance like it does in the NBA. Winning 4 of 5 against LA would be a remarkable achievement.

Isn't it 4 out of 6 remaining potential games?

Okay.
Mind-boggling.

I will save everybody on this board a lot of time. The Rangers suck, everybody on the Rangers suck, the forwards suck, the defense sucks, Lundqvist sucks, AV sucks! The The Rangers have no heart, they are a bunch of talent less scrubs. There, I think that covers it. No need to comment anymore.

My perception of the game if I were a Kings fan is:

I think the Rangers were dominated for most of the game. If I was a Kings fan, I would be a little worried that after that performance the Kings HAD to win in overtime. I know that doesn't mean anything, but I would worried that Lundqvist is going to get in the Kings heads. I would be worried that the Kings are going to continue to give the puck away to a speedy team.

Am I just trying to grasp for anything positive a day after the game? I probably am.

Now, as a diehard Ranger fan:

I think it's crazy to blame Hank for last night's loss. Most of the Rangers played bad. He was one of the few guys to show up. That Stepan giveaway in the 1st period wasn't on Lundqvist. Doughty made an unbelievable play on his goal. Girardi gave the puck away and had ZERO support in the defensive zone on the game winner. How can anybody with a ****ing brain blame Hank for that game? It's gotta be guys just trolling, right? It just has to be. I just wish the posters that post this garbage would refrain from doing so during the Stanley Cup Final. You have 50 other weeks of the year to troll the posters you hate. Doing it now, a day after the 1st final game for this franchise in 20 years? Such ********.

Look, I would be the 1st person say Hank gave up a soft goal if he did. He was perhaps the only Ranger to show up in the 3rd period of a Stanley Cup Final game. That's the real problem last night.

I think game 2 might be the perfect storm for a Ranger win. The Kings might go into game 2 overconfident (who can blame them) while the Rangers SHOULD go into the game desperate. It might add up to the Kings coming out flat and the Rangers could capitalize. My recipe for the Rangers winning this series was splitting the one of the first two games and winning at home. Going into the series I honestly felt like winning game 2 is more important in the "split" formula than winning game 1. Why? Because I believe that long plane ride is horrible for a team coming off a loss. It's also a great plane ride for the team winning. The Rangers coaching staff and veteran players need to drill into the teams heads that they saw the Kings best in the last game and only lost by 1 goal...in overtime. If the Rangers can elevate their game, they have a good shot of winning. I think the Rangers will do just that.

Maybe I'm way off with my feelings about last night and the start of the series. I just think last night could've been 6-2 Kings, and it wasn't. A loss is a loss, but that loss last night might end up being the wake up call the Rangers needed in the series.

Sorry you left out the medical staff, equipment managers and trainers.
