Hanks 10th win of the season. Should be a .916 SV% on the season.

I didn't think he would get close to 30, but he just might just pull another 30+ win season again...

We kicked some major ass! That game gets a double Gary!

Dude no, he needs to be like this when we win:

As far as this bubble team talk, it's true in that we sit on the bubble at the moment. However I expected this to be a playoff team coming into the season, and since the terrible start (when I thought I had things badly misjudged), they've looked to me like a playoff team. Theyre doing the things I thought they'd do. I expect they'll make the playoffs, and not by squeaking in.

Can we not use Gary?

Like...that's a Yankees thing. We have our own thing. We have the dancing flamingo and consuming pizza. I don't want Gary here.

Smith looked fantastic tonight. No question that was his best game this season. He controlled the puck, made plays with the puck, made smart pinches. That’s the Smith this team needs him to be. He was the Rangers best defenseman.

Happy for Fast. You can tell his game is so suited to playing with Hayes. He has a pretty high IQ for the game but he doesn’t think offense or shoot enough all the time. Playing with Hayes on a defensive line is the makings of a very strong duo for the next 3-4 years.

Kampfer and Staal are comfortable playing together. It’s pretty obvious that they can feel where each other are going to be. For all the crap Kampfer gets, for his salary and role, he’s a very above average #7 in this league. Reminds me of Hunwick when he was here. Happy he is signed for this year and next as he provides pretty solid depth.

Vesey played well. He kept his game simple and surprise it was a positive night for him. The second he thinks he’s a skill player he gets in trouble. Move your feet, get the puck, get the puck towards the net. Rinse and repeat. With his size, skating and hands that type of game will lead to points. Too much perimeter play and he gets lost

What was Brendan Smith projected to be? He has some nice offensive instincts.

Yes, don't listen to that guy.

He put up a bunch of points in his last year of college, 52 points in 42 games. His first two seasons in the AHL were solid with 32 points in 63 games and 34 in 57 games, but he never translated that to the NHL. Why not I dont' really know, I guess his shot isn't really that good and his passing isn't really the kind that sets guys up for easy goals, etc. He was definitely hoped to be an offensive defenseman for Detroit but it didn't pan out that way.

Yeah Kampfer is that kind of guy that in the right role is fine as long as he doesn't try to start doing too much.

That second Fast goal was so terrible by the Canes D, both watching Hayes and doing nothing about Fast going in front

edit: first goal I mean, got them mixed up for some reason. Just bad D all around by Carolina tonight

If I remember correctly, part of the reason Detroit fans didn't like him is some subset of them expected him to be their Nick Lidstrom successor.

Really pleasantly surprised by the final 2 periods. Honestly, even with the 2 goal lead I was worried after the 1st when I thought our D sucked bad.

I’m not sure the Detroit style of play suited Smith’s type of offense. You can see that he understands the offensive side of the puck. Where to be, where to pinch, where to pass. There are times, like tonight, where he is a superb offensive defenseman.

In saying that, so far in his NHL career, he has normally seemed to fall back from the blue line more than pinching and cheeping to create. That was one of the big differences i think we saw in Smith’s game at the end of last year with the Rangers vs his time in Detroit.

I dunno about true colors, the 6 game win streak was really smoke and mirrors driven by Hank and the PP. Hell even the game on Sunday was more about the team being less horrible than Ottawa.

More games like this one? Then I'll be a believer.

I guess what I'm trying to say when I say we are starting to show "our true colors" is that I think this past 10 game stretch is more indicative of what kind of team we are then thoe "impostors" from the first 10 or so.

I agree with you that during the 6 game winning streak, that alot of it was due to to the PP being totally en fuego and Hank finding his stride. What was the most important thing IMO about the 6 game winning streak is that the boys finally got their confidence going and that feeling of "when was the next shoe going to drop" which was very prevelant and obvious during those extremely disappointing first 10 games of the season, finally went away.

Now tho even when we lost a few, the boys didn't let that snowball and now we've won two in a row with tonight being as impressive of a win as I can recall in a few years.

Alot of teams other than Tampa so far have shown they have plenty of warts even the Pens. I don't think it's far fetched to think when all is said and done that come April, our Rangers will be a team no one will want to face come playoff time. Still alot of time to go before than but I for one am loving how the team is starting to mesh and how the line combos and defensive pairings are starting to show chemistry.

Most important of all, Hank, as I thought he would coming into the year, is starting to show that he still has quite a bit left in the tank and that last year's very very spotty regular season was a blip on the radar screen. Feeling real good about the boys heading into Thanksgiving....

I definitely did assume his reputation among Red Wings fans had to be at least a little bit influenced by being privileged enough to watch Nick Lidstrom make a single-digit amount of mistakes over 20 years.

I don't think there is any question he will get minimum of 30+ W's injuries withstanding.

He's on pace for 35 as we speak. His save % is I believe .914 after tonight. If he can get it up to .920 or so, my confidence that the Rangers make the playoff would be around 99%. Had it stayed in the .910 or so territory, yeah...I think we'd be lower tiered bubble team with a slim chance of getting in. His emergence and likelihood that he'll get his save % up to that magic .920 area and it's slowly but surely getting up there, is a huge reason for my belief when all is said and done our boys will be dancing in April for the 12th time in past 13 years or something like that....:)
