I think Ron's line combos for the Isles make 1000x more sense than the crap Coach Flintstone throws out on the ice. Any interest in a coaching gig?

Too bad the Isles don't have Matty Moulstache as he is usually good for a goal or two against his brother in law.

LOL thanks but they aren't mine. I usually post from what Daily Faceoff has and they have been incredibly accurate and up-to-date (although not always perfect).

I am aware that there are rumors of some real line juggling for the Islanders and when I get home I will double check if their have been official changes made and update the GDT accordingly. :)

Yup.

Massive line changes for tonight's game against the Ducks, as well as flipping the 2nd and 3rd defense pairs.

GDT updated. Wouldn't be surprised if we see more changes for tomorrow night's game as well.

Don't you 'ugh' Andreoff!!!!1111!1

My comment didn't cause as much of a firestorm as I thought. Maybe no one saw it yet!

Oh. My. God. It's uncanny

This could've been a lot worse. Looks like he'll miss the game and end his 200+ games in a row streak. Who'd have thought that after the trade years ago.

Don't look now, but the Los Angeles Kings are struggling

I thought for sure this was going to be a hit piece. After all, Katie Strang subbed in late last year for the ESPN Power Rankings and dropped the Kings, who had been in the top 10 most of the season, all the way down 22. 22!

"They look dead," one scout remarked.

This quote kind of confirmed it, but also gave me a chance to smile. Sounds like a remark that would be appropriate, given the typical Kings sleepwalk-through-the-season scenario.

But Katie learned her lesson from last season...

But, as Futa pointed out, there will be no sympathy for the Kings, regardless of the situation.

After all, everyone has seen how they have reacted to adversity in years past. To underestimate their ability to respond to difficult times is a death wish.

Just ask the San Jose Sharks.

"It's a long year. We've faced adversity in the past and it's pretty much the same group in here," veteran defenseman Matt Greene told ESPN.com. "We're confident we can get it together."

The Sharks are never ever going to be allowed to forget it. Ever. :)

Both teams have seven wins for the game tomorrow night. Islanders win tonight in Anaheim in overtime on a 4-on-3 power play.

Buffalo board has a thread that "tracks" Islanders season, has to be a contender for being the most desperate thread ever. I love the Isles team, hope you guys do damage in postseason.

She is awful. Covered the Isles for a few seasons and she was terrible and then moved to the Rangers beat. Her hockey acumen is questionable at best.

I would be insulted by it if their actual hockey team wasn't so God awful. They are punishment in of itself for those Sabres fans. All they need is Jon Sim on that roster.

Jack Capuano believes in change.

A lot of change.

First time I can ever recall seeing a third defense pairing move up to number one within two games. As a matter of fact, I can't EVER recall seeing that. Seems like someone is being punished.

The line combinations are all over the place again. Capuano definitely has a dearth of flexible talent, as seemingly all these guys are interchangeable between C and LW and RW. And switching lines from 1 to 4 and 3 to 4 or 2. Never seen anything like it.

They are 7-5 and not bad. I don't understand the constant movement.

Anyway, he is keeping me hopping. GDT updated again this morning.

Capuano is going to drive you insane today imo

They're like us in that lines 1-4 and a third are pretty interchangeable (Obviously Tavares > Clutterbuck just like Kopitar > Brown but you get what I mean). Nice luxury to have. They also let Capuano borrow Terry Murray's blender, not a nice luxury to have. I bet Tavares thrashes us on skill and unfamiliarity, but it will also be interesting to see if the team builds on some of the positive things they've done recently (like neutralizing the Stars' speed by the end of the game).

Also, yay normal game time. Sorry, east coasters!

So far, no changes since this morning.

Unfortunately, I must make my way into the office this morning, so I won't be able to do any updates until early- to mid-afternoon. If someone knows if they will be starting Johnson over Halak tonight, please post it here and I will update the GDT accordingly when I get back.

Actually Capuano is a usually pretty rigid in his lines. I think he is looking over his shoulder because another November swoon by the Isles will be the end of his coaching career.

Seriously, what NHL franchise is hiring this buffoon. The Isles need to find their "Daryl Sutter" - a coach who knows how to manage his team and get the most out of the roster.

He played the 4th line of Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck almost more than any line for the first 8 games of the season. It was torture. Isles score a goal and he send out the 4th line. Isles get scored on he sends out the 4th line. Plus he does not reign in JT and Okie when they take three minute shifts.

Line rush-type drill: 12-11-71, 70-77-73, 74-10-23, 13-28-22; 15 as an extra, no 14 on the ice. D pairings remained the same.

Rosen noted in a follwup tweet that Williams may play tonight, which might explain Nolan standing in for him. And he said Quick was off first, no surprise there.

Glad to see Brown Richards and King together.

Isles lines tonight according to Arthur Staple:

#Isles lines to start tonight: Same top line, Grabovski-Nielsen-Clutterbuck, Lee-Nelson-Strome, Martin-Cizikas-Boulton.

Cizkas back in for Conacher. Johnson in goal. #Isles

The Isles are still figuring things out up front. The thorn in our side has been Josh Bailey's injury and Corey Conacher. Conacher has no business being on the ice and I hope he will be benched as soon as Bailey is back. Once that happens, there should be far less shuffling.
