New Western Pro Hockey League trying to launch

So putting together all of the useful information from that website, I've established a summary narrative ... The first member club of the new Single A WPHL, the Las Vegas Millionaires (owned by Hasbro), has one unnamed rostered player (a 6 ft.-1 in. 104 lb. defenseman) who will begin play on October 22, 2021 against an unknown team at the Pepsi Ice Arena in the North Las Vegas Fiesta Rancho Hotel and Casino complex. Sign me up for season tickets, please.

I decided to follow the Twitter account. Went to look at the other followers and turned up the Salt Lake Killer Bees follow the league. Seems the parties involved can't all be on the same page as the team's bio states, "Semi Professional Hockey Team in the WPHL."

@PCSPounder ... Any chance your hometown will contribute a new WPHL member? There could be a well-known poster on HFB eager to call in some favors on the use of "Portland Pirates" and a suitable logo. ;)

My money is on this league never playing a game. It seems like a western Fed with even less sustainability. Where can you reasonably put a single-A team in the west and have them survive? SLC and Vegas (especially after they get sued) wont last with other, better teams in the market. But it will not matter bacause they wont make it to the season. Also, straight rip of the BC Rumble Bees in Salt Lake.

The FPHL "Western Division" expansion is building momentum.

I love the fact that they have only one team, little or no staff, but they already have dates and times for the first two games. Who plays a pro game at 2:00 PM on a Friday? With every other obstacle that's already present, now they have limited their potential customers to retired people, night shift workers, and the unemployed. And many of those folks still have kids getting out of school around that time.

Sounds like this was dreamed up by one guy who has access to a rec rink with some free ice time to fill.

Could be the same owners. This is an "evolving story" until at least the first puck drop for the League's first game.
I assume that's always a possibility, however, the baseball team is owned by the same group that owns the Utah Jazz, and I don't know that they would get involved in a fly by night operation such as this hockey "league"

My thoughts are those are just placeholders on the website and there are not any actual games scheduled yet

Would anyone be surprised to know former Rumble Bee Frank Santelli is involved with at least the league?

Never heard of him, and then I looked him up. Completely useless as a player. Somehow had a "pro" career. The proliferation of lower level junior leagues and shitty pro leagues like the FHL clearly made this clown think he's somebody in hockey, despite being skilled enough to (maybe) drive the bus. He literally shouldn't have been playing any kind of competitive hockey after age 14. But everyone deserves a trophy now, and everyone deserves to play pro...

But he can hire Ficorelli, who undoubtedly is looking for a place to put his "talent" to work...

Am I missing something here? Looks like he only played 3 FHL games over 2 seasons, then took a 4-year break before playing 5 more. I assume he was just playing on tryouts and not actual contracts. He is for all intents and purposes not a pro player.

Is there a reason to have an opinion on this guy?

Oh, but he is a pro player! He played in the Federal PROFESSIONAL Hockey League!!

It wasn't necessarily about having an opinion on him, just that he was a former Rumble Bee and potentially has access to the logo via legitimate means (I doubt it though).

The other two names listed on the league website are someone who was a scout for the Brampton Beast a few years ago and a player in the Michigan Independence Hockey League.

Basically, not a ton of high-level hockey ops experience at all.
