Love Pat....he's right on.....Ron's inside voice is coming out and making him look like what many of us fear, that the game has passed him by.
omg ... fans take coach talk w Ron way to seriously. Shading and interpreting anything in a light most negative to Ron.

When would you have made the move to Howell?

Week 13 when we were 7-5-1 and in the playoffs? Coming off a 3-0-1 last 4?

If Ron started Howell over Heinike in week 15, yall would have lost your collective shit.

But now, after a good showing in a meaningless week 17 game and half of a pre season game ... Howell is a stud and should have been made the starter when we were in the playoff hunt? after taking zero first team reps all season?

We dont deserve Ron honestly. Hes not Sean Mcvay of Kyle .. so he sucks.

Ron is a leader of men. He has captained this sinking ship like a champ for 4 years now. Players are loyal to him. Players play hard for him when the going gets tough.

----------------

Our fans lack of self awareness of just what Ron has had to deal with and done .. its disappointing.

He just needs to find a franchise Qb but those are to find.

I hope they’re not so dense to keep Rivera around and let EB walk if we have a successful year. That’s a Snyder move but still (just kidding, he signed a 2 year deal)

Add Mathis to the second round bust list of recent years. Since 2010, here are their second round picks in order of the year they were drafted: Jarvis Jenkins, David Amerson, Trent Murphy, Preston Smith, Su'a Cravens, Ryan Anderson, Derrius Guice, Sam Cosmi, Phidarian Mathis, and Quan Martin. Not a single one of these guys (exempting Cosmi, Mathis, and Martin) made it to a second contract with Washington. Jenkins, Amerson, Cravens, and Guice were total busts. Anderson, Murphy, and Jenkins were serviceable for a short while. Preston Smith is the best of the bunch but has played his best football in Green Bay.

Cosmi looks like he could be a player if he stays healthy. Martin has been completely overwhelmed at camp and finds himself behind the 7th round pick from last year but has time to turn it around as he's just a rookie. Mathis has played three snaps total. The pick made no sense last year and it keeps looking worse every day. Just an absolute brutal stretch for valuable picks which is how bad teams stay bad.

It's odd because they've found some gems in the third round like Brian Robinson, Scary Terry, Antonio Gibson, BSJ, Kendall Fuller, Morgan Moses, and Jordan Reed over the same time frame but they have been complete shit at drafting in the second. Hell, they've had a better draft record in the sixth round than in the second round with guys like Aldrick Robinson, Alfy Morris, Tom Compton, Reed Doughty, Kedric Golston, and Nate Sudfeld. Kyshoen Jarrett looked like he was going to be a steal before he had that awful, career-ending injury. Chris Rodriguez Jr also looks like a thumper who could be valuable, fingers crossed there.

Wait what? Man, you need to have higher standards. Stop settling.

Ron Rivera sucks at his job. Period.

lol….you’re off base on this criticism. This isn’t about any one move.

He’s lost touch man….lovable guy, great story, cancer survivor and all and I do think he’s helped the culture improve here, but he misses obvious stuff and then vocalizes it, calling himself into doubt.

All of this. He's a great guy who brought some respectability back to this franchise. He handled the Snyder situation as well as one could have hoped. That said, he should be in some type of front office role where he can focus solely on helping to mentor and develop players. He doesn't have any track record of actually being a good coach. Three winning seasons in 12 years does not inspire confidence.

The ONLY reason RR is still the head coach is because Dan Snyder was checked out for a while, and Josh only took over a month ago. That's the only reason he survived the change in ownership - lucky timing for him.

I expect that, unless he makes a deep playoff run this year, he's gone and *EB will be the HC in 2024.

*EB will also have to demonstrate he really deserves it, but the way too early signs are very good.

Ron is a really good dude who is a subpar football coach and a poor to mediocre FO executive. I wish him well in whatever he does next, but don't find any place for him in this franchise if the goal is to win a SB.

If they somehow lose the opener to what's left of arizona he's gone
They cannot lose that game. They just can’t. Would really feel cursed if they lost that game with AZ leading the open tank watch list.

They might go 0-4 if they lose that one….

the Skins have the 2nd best odds at winning this coming (2) weekend. Baltimore is first (-10), and then the Skins (-7).

So naturally, they lose in some painful and awkward fashion, where Ron calls an extra time out (he thought he has, but had lost due to 2 terrible challenges, which he also lost….confusing him), team loses 15yrds, taking them OUT of Slye FG range.

AZ then blocks our punt and sweeps it the extra 50yards into the end zone as time expires, to win by 2.

Ron laments after the game, that he should’ve had the punter take a safety “but f***, I was still chewing on that time out mumbo jumbo, I couldn’t think straight”.

WFT at -7 really seems like a sucker bet.

It's possible people are becoming overly concerned about Murray being out. AZ still have decent offensive talent and a middle of the pack defense in terms of yds/g.

Dobbs is not terrible. He's untested. He's a mobile QB with a quick release. They probably have a simplified playbook for him that allows him to run if things break down.

This has trap game written all over it. Maybe Slye bails them out but I can't see laying 7.

is Dobbs like literally a nuclear scientist?
-------
edit - hes a rocket scientist.

Dobbs is part of an eight-student team participating in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Design/Build/Fly competition in Tucson, Arizona. The Tennessee engineers must design and build a lightweight model aircraft with folding wings that can carry three hockey pucks around three laps of a 3,000-foot flight course.
