Still waiting for the Stafford - Grigorenko - Folingo line or the Stafford - Grigorenko - Ennis line.

Heaven forbid they actually give the kid some offensive wingers to play with.

LEOPOLD IS BENCHED!! YAY!! FINALLY!!

Seems like this very positive factoid has largely been ignored. Say what you will about the forwards, but this change was long overdue.

I don't understand why Gerbe is still on the PP. He's looked terrible on that unit.

Yeah...I like his puck retrieval skills but beyond that...I hate his shot selection, and really hate him shooting when Myers or Ehrhoff are open to let fly their blasts.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Perreault and Martin would have sat on the bench under Ruff. Gil did give the puck up a lot as a rookie and Martin was no backchecker......Luce and Ramsey though.....Grigorenko will learn not to try to be creative, and while he will be told to drive to the net, the first time he does and gets caught deep resulting in a 3 on 2 goal against he will be sitting for a while.

Questionable at entries, passing has been off, questionable shot selection. I agree. He does a pretty good job at battling for pucks as has been mentioned below, but that doesn't make him worthy. Foligno, Ott, even Hecht and Kaleta can do that. I understand Staff's being sent a message, but he should be on that 2nd unit over Gerbe.

I've already commented on the Kaleta-Staff swap. I'm fine with the Ehrhoff 'demotion'. The reason is obvious, and it's to get something on the 2nd unit going. Brennan is finally getting a legitimate chance to show his possible worth on the PP. I like these decisions as something to evaluate + try and kickstart the units. I commented last game that the Ehrhoff slap pass to Vanek deflection is a beautiful combo that I want to see more of, but I'll gladly put that on hold if Brennan can do a good job and Ehrhoff and make ANYTHING happen on the 2nd unit.

I'd say the priority should be getting something going on the first unit.

That's reasonable, but there's no reason to think Brennan can't succeed in that spot. If he can't then they need to get rid of him quickly. The time to evaluate that is now, before they're forced to move someone.

Hence,
Hodgson off (0 PP points)
Stafford off (1 PP assist)
Ehrhoff off (0 PP goals)

Stafford wasn't on the first unit, and removing Ehrhoff because he has no powerplay goals makes no sense.

I guess Pominville should come off as well since he only has 4 total points and 0 since the end of January.

How can they not give Brennan a chance on the PP at this point?

Look who has scored on the PP so far:

Vanek: 5G
Pom: 1 G
Myers: 1 G
Ott: 1 G

Given his lack of ability to even hit the net so far this year, I'm skeptical.

But if they want to give him one last look to see where he's at, fine.

Has Brennan really been given much of a chance this year? He probably received PP time in a game or two. [edit- he has received a total of 7:58 on the PP this year).

Small sample size, but he has more shots on goal per 60 minutes played than Ehrhoff.

the new lines are dumb but the sabres will win this game and everyone (aside from those who post here) will think lindy should win the jack adams trophy.
