I'm not afraid to say it, Hughes has been struggling lately. Keeps skating straight into defenders and coughing pucks up. Keeps putting himself in vulnerable positions and getting wrecked along the boards. Only scored one goal since Feb 6th. Still has 9 points in 8 games since then lol.

I don't think it's worrisome. He's two games away from playing the most NHL games he's ever played in one season, and the pace of this year is probably a fair amount higher than he's seen so far. No covid or long mid-season injuries this year.
He'll go through down cycles and he'll still produce at PPG level thats how good he is. The consistency will come with time. He finds his way to domination quickly again. Not worried at all.

For all the times I've complained about him in in the past, Damon is playing like a boss! (Even before that pass).

Didn't he refuse to sign with us?
I I don't know that he refused to sign with us. I think he may have chosen not to because he thought we had more forward depth and there was more of a path at getting into the NHL quicker in Colorado. I'm not sure if he outright refused to sign here. I feel like it was mutual on both sides that he go elsewhere, but I don't remember if that's exactly how it went down.

It's funny that we signed the Colorado draft pick Will Butcher that summer and they signed our draft pick Alexander Kerfoot that same summer/offseason.

It was almost like we traded Butcher for Kerfoot.

We did get a great rookie season out of Butcher.

Hes always been super skilled just needed some time but also was stuck behind a lot of talent that plays a similar game.

Happy hes finding himself now, would help our outlook on the third line next year if he can keep this up.
He needed to up his effort to NHL standards and then get enough experience for his skill to emerge. It’s not easy.
