While Brodeur was giving up 3 goals on 3 consecutive shots in the Bronx, Kinkaid was busy giving up 3 goals on 3 consecutive shots in Albany.

The sentimentality that led to Brodeur starting this game is so stupid. It's a regular season game that means something in the standings, you play your best players.

Agree with this completely.

Are there any Montreal games left on the schedule? Then and only then should Marty play and not because of sentimentality but because he actually plays well against them most of the time.

You do realize that Marty hasn't been playing like your typical back-up goaltender leading up to this game, right? The reality is both Marty and Cory have been providing rock solid goaltending before this game, so either choice would have been fine. But the truth is, when you've got a guy like Brodeur who has put 20 years of heart and soul into this organization, you give him the start for an event like this, especially when he has been more than formidable as a player leading up to it.

With the exception of 1 good goal today, ALL the Rangers goals are FLUKES and probably go in on Schneider too.

Maybe Cory makes a remarkable save on one of the flukes, but reality is with Cory in net it's probably 5-3 Rangers.

You can do your little psychology trick by blaming Brodeur to take all the heat off the rest of the team, but the fact is the Devils have given up 1001 odd-man rushes today and Schneider wouldnt have changed that, OR have been able to anticipate pucks bouncing in off skates, Volchenkov's azz, or Mark Fayne's idiocy.

Exactly.

The Lemaire style would have been perfect for this sort of game.

If Marty makes the saves he is asked to make we are not talking about this right now. Also did you ever think maybe some guys are pressing out there to do more offensively because they know the guy they got between the pipes isn't good enough to stop a beach ball at times these days? Seriously they are pressing because of Marty's poor play today and at times during the season. No way they are confident with him back there as much as they are with C.S.

Also please don't mention the Lemaire still especially if it involves the super passive trap he played later in his coaching tenure in NJ. It got way too passive for my liking.

I saw all the replays on the big board. I do not agree. It's 3-2 Devils at worst I think with Cory. Marty has looked slow with zero reaction time since the drop.

Does this team not fight anymore?

We need a momentum shift badly.

If DeBoer is not going to pull Marty, get one of Clowe, Bernier to drop the gloves

... and with that said the Devils minor league goalies called up last year when Marty got hurt deserved to play instead of Moose when it was clear he was not up for the task to start every game after 2 games played ... DumBoer

I don't care how many goals Kinkaid or whoever is giving up in Albany as last year they should have gotten a chance to lift the team and when getting some junk time showed they could play a little. Heck anything was better than Moose.

Bye bye playoffs last year cuz of that and maybe bye bye playoffs this year cuz of points thrown away starting Brodeur.

That is 5 goals against with any goalie in even the Voltron of Hasek, Marty and Roy in their primes. Crazy bounces and the D playing like they are drunk Pejorative Slurs will do that.

The defense has been atrocious, no doubt. The fact remains that Schneider's positional goaltending is more likely to deal with those deflections than Marty's reactionary Cirque du Soleil style.

Aside from which he is and has been the better goaltender.

I'm not letting this broadcasting get to me and thinking that this is a playoff game. It's not. It's two points, no matter how badly we lose, and then we move on. This team always plays a close game. It's just a weird day with different conditions.

I mean, it's only extra irritating because THIS is the game that's nationally broadcasted and such a big ****ing deal. Not the first three times we beat them.

Man I was so pumped when we were up 3-1......

I thought it was going to turn into another game like vs the Blues.

Marty lets in a floater and been all crap from there.

HUGE momentum swing and deflated the team.

I am so disappointed right now. Big divisional game against our biggest rivals and could have jumped ahead of the Rags in the standings and ..... We are getting destroyed
What a swing of emotions in such a shorty period if time
Makes me so angry I could club a baby seal right now
