I will place absolutely ZERO blame on Marty if our embarrassing forward group can't put the puck in the net. I don't care if it was 5-0. I don't think it's right to blame the goalie when your offense doesn't score.

even if the devils didnt score a goal last night it doesnt change the FACT that the goal he gave up was weak!

he doesnt give that up maybe we get to overtime get the point. shootout? doubtful we would win it but still that was a very weak goal to give up.

I don't blame Marty for the past two games.

When you're watching your teammates actually "suck" at putting the puck in the net, the minute he sees the opposition coming down the ice with the puck at him, his mind races, he loses focus & walla, they score.

The PP is to blame for all of this & I still don't understand how Shaw is keeping his job. :shakehead

It'll be refreshing when Marty retires and we can blame the new goalie for every loss. Then we'll hear things like "Well Marty would have gotten that one." :sarcasm:

if moose was in and gave that goal up last night would you not be putting blame on him?

I bet you Reimer stops that shot last night.

Why is it so hard for people to fathom the idea that both the offense AND the goaltending is weak?

Maybe on a whole but if the goalie gives up 1 goal and loses, I probably won't go out and point my finger at the goalie. Then again I grew up in the olden ways of hockey so times have changed.

What are you even rambling on about? The devils havent scored a goal in 120 mins and 37 seconds. Enough of the anti-marty junk..

No because the team scored 0 goals.

so by your thinking just because the devils score 0 it doesnt matter what the goalie does? marty could've shot the puck into his own net last night and because the devils scored 0 it wouldnt be his fault?

The funny part is I thought we were done blaming Marty for every little thing after Moose's AHL-caliber run. Guess the blame Marty game will never end around here.

its just his turn in the cycle to blame from frustrated fans. If we would have won 5-1, no one would have even brought up that goal

your right because that goal wouldn't have cost us the game. would it still have been a weak goal? yeah it would've.

i just dont understand the chico type love you give him. hes a great goalie but he lets in bad goals. last night was a bad goal sorry

When you outshoot your opponents that badly and lose, it's one of two things. Weak, low percentage shots being taken or an opponent's goalie is playing out of his mind.

I happen to think the offensive is not taking any shots worth taking. Not Marty's fault. He hasn't played his best hockey this year, but this certainly is not on him.

Most teams would love if their goalie only let one by. This whole blame Marty thing is annoying and stupid. What do i know i thought Marty only had 100+ shutouts not 666. Scrub cant win a 2-1 game. Call up Kinky and give him #30

An observation and question.

You have to admit that the Devils are possessing well. They are winning board battles, cycling and getting point shots. However, these shots never seem to produce anything. Is it because these shots create no anxiety from the opponent (too weak, too innacurate)? What's different about the myriad of Devils's point shots relative to other teams? It's not like teams are scoring Kessel-esque goals on a routine basis.
