GDT: New Jersey Devils @ Philadelphia Flyers - 7 PM

We don't need 2 D to run a PP, but we do need our best shootout at the circle.

I just want to see Kovalchuk move.

I get where he is. Personally, I like Zidlicky/Harrold in the circle because I think they have better PP vision.

But they can't work on back door plays, plays where Kovalchuk comes up into the slot, etc.

None of those plays have ever crossed their minds?

Kovy has better vision than everyone on this team besides Elias, and even that one is debatable.

The only thing that's different is they actually move around but it's just the two guys up top switching places. It's just so predictable, work it around the perimeter until Kovy sets up so he can rip one wide over and over again.

I thought they had an umbrella type deal going for a while, that seemed a bit better. The most frustrating thing is us killing 3/4 of the PP trying to enter the zone then just dump it in. :banghead:

I'm pretty much convinced that NJ has and always will have a crappy PP no matter what. Sure there have been some anomalies but it's something that has plagued them for their entire history it seems.

Am I the only one who thinks they waste to much time setting up on the powerplay with Kovy CONSTANTLY rotating to the left side. Just let him start from over there. Its predictable anyway at this point. At least get the predictablility right without all the excessive rotation. And the fact that Larsson doesn't sniff PP time is beyond me. He's got a deflectable shot and great passing. With Zid its like having Rolston back there blasting away and hitting glass every time.

Vision may not be the best term. But I think Kovalchuk on the top of the umbrella draws attention opening up that cross crease pass which leaves the other PK scrambling.

I counted like four cross ice passes from Zidlicky/Harrold to Loktionov/Elias in the first Devils/Flyers game.

One opened up Henrique in the middle on the goal.

Hell no you're not the only one, I've been beating this drum for weeks.

He has a deflectable shot all right, too bad half the time it gets deflected by the other team for breakouts the other way. He's also predictable in that he doesn't fire a slapshot - ever. The one time he was in position for it the other night, Henrique didn't drop the puck off but scored himself on the backhand.

I don't think an umbrella is the way to go until we stop missing the net. The amount of shots we'd shoot wide leading to self clears would have us begging to bring this current PP back.

Saw on Twitter. Post game a Flyers fan started humping a 17 year old Devils fans leg saying "Devils just got butt ****ed." (Because a 2-1 shootout loss is very one-sided.) The kids Dad shoved the fan away, so a Flyer fan clocked the 17 year old kid. Kid gets up and gets choked out.

Classiest city in the world.
