I think Mikey playing with some more offensive players could be...interesting.
I think there is still something there with him to leverage. He can single-handedly carry the puck through the neutral zone, which outside of Bratt/Jack there isn't enough of. Let him do the neutral zone work and dump it off to Holtz in the OZ, get a shot off, and have the Dawgson hunt some rebounds.
Kind of similar to how Vegas promoted Stephenson into an effective top-six center (no, I'm not saying Mikey will be that good). But they took a guy people thought had no offense, and put him in a situation to leverage his one plus-skill (neutral zone play).
