I still think this game is winnable. Weve generated chances well...

Yeah its not like they are getting outplayed.

Devils are literally just not trying. It blows, yes, but every team has these games in every part of the year.

I trust this team will turn it on come playoff time and put in an honest effort in every game.

The doomers blow every loss out of proportion, to a ridiculous extent.

That being said, you have to a bit blinded to not see that this team is not as good defensively as the stats suggest. They allowed an opposition player to skate into the slot, completely unchallenged, in close proximity to the goalie not once, not twice, but three times…in one period. Contrary to what some people here insist, this is not something that every team does every game. These are catastrophic failures of puck management and defense. They may only happen a few times a game, but that’s a couple of times more than a team who’s gonna go far in the playoffs would be giving up.

Combine that with an anemic special teams, and there’s plenty of reason to be skeptical of how much success they’re really going to have in the post-season, despite shattering expectations in the regular season.

I fully expect some learning curve moments in the playoffs. It's rare for a team to have a deep run right out of the gate. They obviously aren't playing their best hockey right now, but they weren't in December either when the doom and gloomers were out in force, and they recovered from it. Its a long season and sometimes you just don't have it. It happens, even to really good teams.
