Duck fans, I don't know how you do it. I've never seen a team be the target of more awful trade proposals.

I know its gotten to the point where I see more shark wings and kings fans defending our players, then bashing our players...

its disgusting

fowler has been anaheims best player this year, so naturally they will trade him for a 35 year old winger.

It gets better though! A 35 year old winger who hasn't played a full season since 2008, and is signed till 2019 with a full NMC, so we'd have to expose one of the younger guys to protect him. Good lord who could resist that deal :help:

Anaheim has virtually no cap space now that Hampus Lindholm has been resigned. The New Jersey Devils are looking for D-Men and the Ducks need a quality forward to put up some points.

New Jersey Recieves:
Cam Fowler

Anaheim Recieves
Mike Cammalleri (50% Retained)
2017 4th Round Pick

The Ducks will receive a quality left winger on a 1 year deal and get back 2 million in cap space. Devils eat up a lot o cap for a Top 4 defenseman. This trade would hinge on how high Anaheim would want a pick and If Mike Cammalleri waves his NTC. I believe he would because he would be thrown onto a contender but then again he might want to ride out his time with New Jersey.

Be Gentle

We are not trading Fowler for a 34 year old on the smaller side winger who has had missed a lot of games over the years because of injury.

For the Devils fan who proposed this I'd simply say this:

Consider you just got Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson. It would take a return similar to that to land Fowler, likely more.

Trust me most fans have read the stat sheet on fowler

hes a borderline 2nd pairing dmen, more likely a 3rd pairing.

But everyone sure wants him cheap I wonde why :amazed:

Even if all things were equal this would be a very poor offer. But the reality in the NHL right now is that defenseman have far more value than forwards on the trade market. Particularly young one's who can move the puck and are on good contracts.

Not defending the original proposal, but I don't think it would take a Taylor Hall level offer to land Fowler - not when he's less than 2 years away from potentially being an unrestricted free agent.

I like Fowler, but he's not someone the Devils should be targeting. They can't afford to give up someone like Zacha, which many in this thread have suggested it would take, for someone so close to being unrestricted...even if there is a good chance you could get him re-signed. Devils have been desperate to get a top line center in their system, and so far Zacha looks like he can fit that need.

What's the Ducks situation as it relates to defensemen and the expansion draft?

Isn't that what's driving a lot of these Fowler trade proposals?

Fowler hit the gym this off-season big time. His shot is ramped up a notch and it's paying instant dividends, 7 points in 8 games lots of which coming off his shots. This strength will help him on both sides of the puck. His skating is just as good as ever, so he put on the weight proper.

He ain't being traded. I'm holding him for 2 years at his current 4M cap hit and doing everything I can to re-sign the kid. Why get rid of a great thing because you have rookies or AHL prospects who "could become like Fowler". We got Fowler. He's right here.

No more of this nonsense.

If Bob Murray was asking for Mantha from Detroit for Fowler, Then more then likely it would take Zacha to get Fowler and there's no way Shero is trading Zacha so i doubt that New Jersey is a good trading partner with Anaheim for Fowler.

I think they said that Fowler was working out with some of the Red Wing players this past summer. I saw an article somewhere saying that he was training with some of the Wing players this summer.

So...if Anaheim decides to hold on to Fowler and protect him along with Hampus and Vatanen, who do they risk losing in the expansion draft? Does Bieksa have to be protected because of his NMC?

Well, it would be the end of Josh Manson unless he surpasses Vatanen by then. You protect 7F/3D or 8 skaters. They'll do 8 skaters:

Fowler, Lindholm, Vatanen, Getzlaf, Perry, Kesler, Silfverberg, Rakell.

Vegas takes Manson, Ducks get to keep Cogliano. Bieksa will waive (why not, they aren't taking Kevin Bieksa), Theodore, Ritchie, etc. are exempt due to 1st/2nd year pro status.

That response was a bit... heated.

Fowler isn't a player we move to free up space. He's a player we would move to try to make the team better. This deal doesn't do that. If you want Fowler, you need to pay for him. Simple as that.

No more heated than the responses before it.

I have some family there in Anaheim whom are Duck fans, And that's what they were telling me that Fowler hasn't looked as amazing as he has so far this season. Happy that he's going to stay there you guys sure can use all the help you can muster up.

We just need a little help in our top 9(which Ritchie seems to be much better also and getting better as the games go on) and rakell returning should help a bit, but I think we still need 1 more forward piece. We have expendable pieces on defense if the right pieces come along, the bigget issue would be making it work finically.

Despite what other fans think, I don't think it includes giving fowler away for next to nothing.

I disagree based on the fact that Fowler is a slightly better defenseman, particularly on the offensive end. No way around it but defenseman who can produce offense have more value on the open market.

I never said Zacha would be the return though either.

Thanks for the explanation, but the 8 skaters you listed are 3 D / 5 F - was there a 4th defenseman you meant to include in there?

Certainly, defensemen that can produce offense have more value...but if you consider Fowler to be a "slightly better" defenseman than Larsson you are severly underestimating the impact of their contract. Larsson has 5 years remaining on his contract at a good cap hit. Fowler could leave in 2 years for nothing or if he stays, he's certainly taking up significantly more cap space than Larsson in years 3-5 since as you said, those that can produce offense have more value on the open market.

I never said Zacha would be the return though either.

Yeah, no ****. That's why I included "which many in this thread have suggested it would take" immediately after mentioning Zacha.

Bieksa will waive his NMC or be bought out. He should have no fear at all of Las Vegas drafting him from us.

It's probably between Manson and Vatanen. I like Manson a lot... I like Vatanen a lot too. It's going to suck either way. Maybe we expose Vatanen and pray Montour replaces him sufficiently. Whoever is drafted, I'm gladly buying their Las Vegas jersey.
