GDT: New Japan Thread - Life Post-Okada

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
It reminded me in some ways of Bret-Austin in that it turned a megaheel into a top level babyface and made the guy in one night.

Yup. I felt those same vibes. Kidd felt a lot like the young Stone Cold going up against the already established legend in Bret Hart(Omega). Kidd just like Austin being loud, brash, talkin lots of smack and oozing with swagger and the crowd can’t help but to cheer him.

Ready for New Year Dash. This is a pretty nice venue. Really modern. 20250106_171833.jpg

WrestleDynasty was a lot of fun. Gabe/Omega was freaking fantastic. I love how much the crowd got behind Gabe. This wasn't out of the blue, it's been brewing but seeing Omega get booed that much in return was phenomenal.
He was shitting on AEW a fair amount but I am guessing him calling Tony a “money mark” was when he fully crossed the line. Got to the point Rocky told him to put the guns away lol

That and he said "what have Jay White, Okada, and Ospreay done since leaving?" where they have all been very successful.

Started WK last night, but fell asleep with just Naito/Hiromu and ZSJ/Shota left. Takagi/Takeshita was good but felt short. Love ELP winning.

Tanahashi/EVIL I think was what what put me to sleep. EVIL sucks and Tana can't move anymore. I enjoyed the Jr. tag laddar match.

Gonna try to finish it and watch Wrestle Dynasty tonight. Looking forward to the Omega/Kidd and ZSJ/Ricochet matchse.

Sumie Sakai is going to use her retirement match to bring out the good in House of Torture

Koguma beat Ranna Yagami, thus she was forced to do the Kuma dance, which Syuri refused to allow her to do.

So Syuri was upset today

Rather Ishii have the belt than like David Finlay or EVIL. Throw him a bone for a short run and then let him put over Tsuji/Umino/Kidd/whoever.

Although that might be what this Goto reign is for.

I remember watching my first G1 and I had heard all about the negative buzz towards EVIL and the HOT from western fans but I decided to keep an open mind.

I watched EVIL vs. Tama Tonga and some of his shenanigans amused me. Then the match kept going and he kept doing them, then the match kept going, and he kept doing them, then the match kept going and he kept doing them all the way near the 20 minute time limit and then he won. I decided to watch the rest of that show the next day because that match got me ready for bed.

His over-the-top schtick is entertaining in small doses. I watch AEW as well so it reminded me of early "Team TNA" with Lethal and Jarrett doing ridiculous shenanigans, but holy shit do not give him another world title reign. I thankfully missed his first run with the belt. In other news, Ren Narita is by far the best part of that faction.

Starlight Kid wore white to a press conference and paid the price but was unfazed
