If you're a Leaf fan, why would you want to go to the "main boards" to discuss the Leafs when there is a board specifically dedicated to the Leafs topics

I agree. I think some of our fans could be doing this wrong. I find the best place to peruse and find honest assessments of the Leafs (from opposing teams POV) are their "Around the League" threads.

But if you do lurk there, please avoid participating or the place just become like the main board -- just my 2 cents.

In theory the main boards is a place to get valuable outside opinions on your club and keep up with league wide discussion. It's about being informed and part of the bigger community imo.
Problem is it rarely works out that way.

There does seem to be two sets of Leaf fans, those that care what others think and those that don't. I'm firmly in the I don't care.

I try to be nice to other teams fans...I really do...then they start trying to troll or make up BS or just generally hate on the Leafs regardless of anything else and that’s when I promptly come back to this board to get away from it...truly annoying to hear the word salads these people put together just to “troll” Leafs fans

I wouldn't say I care what others think. I just think in this one specific instance, it's a dick move to taunt another team about their core players inevitably leaving them to go somewhere else. People do it to us. I just like the idea of us being better than that lol

I tend to think or the main boards as an after the whistle scrum. Because let’s face it, a lot of people are there to give someone a face wash, take a shot, jaw a bit and hopefully not take a penalty.

If you want to actual research or learn about a topic I think browsing is your best bet.

That is why this year is so special. The rest of Canada can only blame themselves if they let the Leafs make the semis and the Cup from there. It would be beyond glorious.

Damn straight. Its been almost 50 years for me and I'll be damned if I cannot enjoy it.

Problem with the mains is that noone can take it...they just want to dish it out.

Because you never learn anything by staying inside a single box.

We are all United by our love for the game but yet still kept apart by some people believing that you should stick to your own section and never post anywhere else. Not all mind you but a lot.

What some call it trolling... others call it good natured banter. No ill will just shit talking and some laughs one way or another.

Imo bragging is a natural part of Fandom.


Sometimes it can go a bit too far, but its not as if other fans will offer any mercy when the Leafs are experiencing a down period. Let them deal with it

Its something I have noticed on the mainboards that there is a set double standard.

By being the largest fan base we will naturally have more...antagonizing fans. Other boards have even suggested eliminating all Leafs fans from boards, when that particular individual had chastised the team the entire off-season, and when he was wrong and fans showed him his posts as a friendly "eat crow". He called it bullying and then suggested we should be taken off the boards over a simple banter.

I myself have received infractions, but the people who have personally attacked me have not received any infractions or warnings. It is what it is, but at least hold to the standards set out when you create a site like this.

When we are losing, the team is where we are supposed to be, when we are winning there are ten thousand reasons for us to not feel proud.

How many Mackinnon posts and Crosby/Malkin/Ovechkin/Stamkos posts did we see? I remember the main board being filled with them.

One of the reasons I love this team and fan base, when we win, people will be needlessly mad over a game of hockey.

I’ve always said if the leafs won the cup other fans would criticize a game 7 series or initiate a thread titled “leafs can’t win twice in a row”.

My point is, the only ones who will truly embrace how good this team is, is us. We’ve been through a lot of dark times as a fanbase - some much longer than others. We deserve this team as a fanbase and shouldn’t care what internet people think.

I couldn't care less what other people think, the Leafs are good and massive favorites to be at least final 4. I find it hilarious how Winnipeg's tires are now being pumped as the "real" competition, I don't think it's a coincidence they are the team that has played the Leafs the least so far (and lost of course). Winnipeg is not a good team and their metrics suck. Prior to this last week it was all about Edmonton and we saw how much they accomplished when the cards were down.

Every time the Leafs seem to have "made it", some of our fans storm the main boards and flood them with need for recognition or with arrogance, only to be brought back down to earth a short time later. Dominating the rather weak North Division should not lead to this again. Let's just enjoy it for once. Understatement seems to me to be the right way to go, at least until we finally win a playoff round or two.
